The hotel occupies a stunning park setting overlooking the Thuner See. We had a spacious twin aspect room with a large shower room and balcony. The hotel was very welcoming and had a relaxed atmosphere. The reception staff were very warm and helpful and provided options and advice for daytime visits/excursions. The breakfast was very extensive. We would have liked a few more cooked breakfast options but this was not essential given the overall choice available. The spa occupies an exceptional location and very calming and relaxing space together with views beyond the lake to the surrounding mountains. The grounds adjoin the lake and provide a beautiful open space and setting. We would certainly wish to re-visit when next in the area - all in all a very comfortable hotel.
The 3 of us spent 4 night in the hotel in a "large double room". We had a double bed and an extendable armchair, which was reasonable for our son. The room was indeed big enough and had two balconies, next to each other. One very small, but the other one was just great, with a direct lake view, shadow, table and chairs (1st floor). The other great thing about the hotel was its park. Not big, but great for a short promenade, or for a lake-side coffee when the weather permits. Also a gym, and even a table tennis room in the basement. Easily accessible by car, plenty of parking. Unless the breakfast, which was modest than expected for such a place, it could be a perfect place to spend a week.
I Went Swiz Before Two weeks and i stay at the amazing place call Parkhotel Gunten. its very beautiful place. the hotel is situated front of the lake.it was amazing. My family ware there two days and hotel is nice. but there are few mistakes. service. cleaning and lift service. basically good for stay.place and view is great
Park Hotel is located in a very good place, close to all attraction and strategically located on the lake for a nice swim. The garden is well maintain. When we arrive it was just after a major storm that took down several thousands year old trees. The hotel brought in a chopper to take them away. The rooms were on the small side, with glass type bathroom, no privacy. Breakfast is on the light side, but it was included in the price. The hotel didn’t provide a bottle of water and when I asked for one I was charged 9.5(!) CHF. Check-in was a breeze as well as the checkout. The reception personnel were super friendly.
We spent a night at the ParkHotel in Gunten last October and were very impressed. Impressed enough to want to spend a few days there this summer - which we just did. we will go back. This time we had a smaller room but still with lake view and the only problem we encountered had to do with the bathroom. Which was about the size of a postage stamp. We asked to be moved but the hotel was full. However the person at the desk promised that we would be moved the following day. Which we were - to a room roughly the same size with a smaller balcony but with a lovely, recently remodelled and good sized bathroom with a very nice shower. We were very happy with the room AND with the prompt reaction to our complaint. We took the Half Board plan and found the food excellent but too much! We simply cannot eat a 4 course meal night after night anymore. Next time we will go "à la carte" for dinner. The service was perfect. It was very very hot (second heatwave of the summer) and we like rosé with ice cubes. After one evening the waitress, Corrina, brought the rosé AND the ice with no reminder! She is really top notch. There was a good variety of dishes - choice each night of meat, fish or veg - and some extremely nice salads. The other guests in the hotel were predominantly Swiss and most from the German speaking part. (We are from French speaking Switzerland but also speak German...) There were a few foreigners - a couple of Arab families and some Chinese - but they fit right in and were very pleasant. I mention this because Gunten is not far from Interlaken which is over-run with tourists. Gunten is not. It is very very Swiss in feeling. If you are looking for a well-run hotel with good food right on a lake in the Oberland the Parkhotel Gunten is the place to be!…
