The Chedi Andermatt is frequently lauded for its opulent amenities and spacious rooms adorned with high-end furnishings and the latest technology, creating a sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere. Though the cleanliness generally receives high marks, occasional oversights such as a clogged sink have been mentioned.
While the attentive and professional service often earns praise, some guests have experienced inconsistencies. Reviewers also note that the hotel's high cost for rooms and services may not always align with their expectations for value.

We stayed at The Chedi Andermatt from Sunday to Tuesday. Arriving by train is ideal due to the location right next to the train station. Everything went smoothly at check-in and the processes seemed to have been well coordinated. Avron from the front office checked us in very professionally and took the time to do a very detailed rooming of the deluxe room. The restaurant reservation was made immediately after check-in without any complications. It is worth reserving THE JAPANESE in advance because it is usually fully booked.
The spa offers everything your heart desires (35m indoor pool, outdoor pool, hydrotherapy with various warm and cold water pools, etc.).
The breakfast, including cheese from the cheese humidor, is very extensive, and the service is very attentive even during the "rush hour" at 10 a.m. It was also nice that the lady at reception remembered us.
We were served by Helene at dinner. She guided us through the evening very attentively and with valuable recommendations. Many thanks at this point for this great service!
After dinner, Enéa showed us around the hotel again - upon request - and gave us exciting insights into the world of The Chedi Andermatt. Thank you very much for that.
When we checked out, the GM, Mr Arnold, also took a moment to ask how satisfied we were.
The only thing we missed was the in-room connectivity for connecting a smartphone to the TV or Bluetooth speakers. Although an AUX cable can be ordered from the front desk, not all smartphones are equipped with this socket anymore.
All in all, an excellent hotel run by friendly staff. We can recommend it to everyone and look forward to seeing you again soon.

I found the attentiveness, friendliness and availability of the staff to be very pleasant. The stay in the large spa area with a long swimming pool and refreshing lime juice was very relaxing. I had dinner in "The Restaurant", the food was excellent, the Asian dumplings, especially the Chinese vegetable dumplings, were wonderful, but the naan bread with coriander and the bread roll for starters were also very tasty. I also found it to be very attentive service that my room was cleaned and tidied while I was having dinner. The next day I enjoyed a rich breakfast with delicious croissants and small sweet delicacies made from puff pastry, the Urner cream honey and the honey straight from the honeycomb were also very tasty. Since I have some trouble sleeping, I was also curious to see how I would sleep. The beds with Hästens Maratzen allowed me to sleep well, which was very pleasant.
I am completely satisfied and can only warmly recommend The Chedi Andermatt.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
In a word - one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. I like to travel exclusively -often I forget to write a review. This time it must be: The service was perfect all round: friendly, always available, all staff competent (many speak only English though) - from reception, valet parking, chauffeur to golf course, restaurant staff, room service... There are a lot of staff who read the wishes from the eyes unobtrusively but at any time unsolicited. Our room (Grand Deluxe) was spacious and beautiful with fine materials, classy design, great walk-in closet, balcony, view of Courtyard. The only thing we did not find exceptionally good was the breakfast, which is served in buffet form, with very many guests something in hall atmosphere. In addition, e.g. Egg Benedict or a glass of sparkling wine for breakfast cost extra, which I find disappointing in a hotel of this category and price range, especially since the breakfast otherwise met the standard of an upscale business hotel (there was e.g. only one type of sliced salami... no pâté or spread sausage or anything special). The huge cheese chamber, however, is great with fantastic selection. The next morning we took advantage of the offer for breakfast in the room (supposedly free of charge) to fully enjoy the great atmosphere there. Here, however, only a very boring sweet breakfast is served - no egg dishes etc. We had ordered a cheese plate, which then also came nice and with good selection, but was charged with 25 CHF extra, although at least the cheese would have been included in the price at breakfast in the restaurant. We had also ordered 2 cappucino and latte macchiato as well as juices, whereby only one drink of one variety was ever delivered. That was disappointing. Otherwise a really perfect hotel with impressive architecture, perfect service, beautiful spa area. We had upgraded our dinner at THE RESTAURANT to the 2 star restaurant THE JAPANESE for a fee - that was worth every cent: we had the perfect menu - without a single cut!!!!!! We will definitely come back!

We stayed there for a few days to enjoy the spa and aomw nice food.
The room was as always nice but for the price paid you can expect to have it checked before guest arrival we washed our hands after 5 min in the room and the sink was clogged.
We then decided to go to the spa and we were looking for the bathrobe usually there is always to size available this time no.
Bar you should stick to common drinks as the coktail was appaling , funny name but not to expectations at all.
We had dinner at the restaurant as always the food was nice but it it looked like the prices really rised up and the quantity got smaller. 19CHF for a 1 dl glass of wine really ?
Staff were amazing everywhere

Great marketing, but hotel is far from incredible 5stars experience. Beautiful interior, amazing room, comfy bed and beautiful spa area. That’s about it!
Pools don’t have any massage jets.
We waited 15+ minutes for our coffee in the morning, and, on top of that, given it was very busy, waitress said we can’t be seated together for breakfast (never heard a phrase like that elsewhere, even in 2 stars hotels) and it took her a couple of minutes to realise some tables could fit us.
You have to pay for a lot of options including eggs Benedict that are typically free in most 5 stars hotels.
Food in regular hotel restaurant is mediocre. Cannot comment on Japanese. Nothing really worth the money. They have hundreds of wines but only one non alco beer to offer. Table after eating got a bit dirty and we needed to ask they clean it. No tablecloth for such a place was really bizarre. Kids food was served even before mise en bouche (we didn’t ask for rapid service for kid), and we ended up eating while our kid was already done.
We would not go back or recommend the hotel unless you really have no other options. It’s maybe 2-3 star hotel for service and food, 5 only for interior design.

We've been to this Pension several times. The welcome was perfect. However, this time we were very disappointed. The room was not that clean. A lot of dust and on the carpet there was hair that had not been vacuumed.
Furniture is getting old: for example the sofa is old and it really does work in this room. The furniture at the foot of the bed is very worn too. The room needs a little refreshment and we also noticed in the restaurant the bottom of the bar furniture is really very worn out.
The mattress is really too soft.
We were surprised that the shower products were not changed when we had already emptied them quite a bit.
We believe that the rooms need a refreshment or that the Awards are revised downwards.
We will wait a few years before coming back

We decided to book at Chedi in Andermatt to celebrate our daughter’s birthday because a few years ago we had been pleasantly surprised and we wanted to offer a good time to our daughter for her birthday 700 km from home. We had insisted before closing our Reservation that a surprise at the end of the meal would be reserved for him if we decided to eat at the Pension restaurant. We also reminded him as soon as we arrived at the reception, we were guaranteed that the necessary would be done. To our surprise, nothing was done, we reported it at the time of the check and by apologizing, they assured us that the necessary would be done for breakfast. The next day at breakfast nothing was also done and icing on the cake, I had to wait nearly 40 minutes to receive 2 eggs in the flat and reminding them several times. At the Award of the room +/- €1,000 per night per room and the restaurant menu +/- €150 per person Excluding drinks, I find it sad not to be able to meet a commitment at such an Award and enjoy a better service.
For the rest, the rooms are very comfortable and the wellness part (swimming pool, spa, hammam, massages etc...) is very good. Too bad for these broken promises, because we will no longer take the risk of organizing anything else at this place and recommend it as we had done to several Belgian and Luxembourgish friends.

The service is unfortunately not fair to a 5 star hotel. Whether it's breakfast or a snack in the lobby, you wait forever for your ordered drinks or are usually completely forgotten. Since there were no ear sticks in our room we asked housekeeping about it. The answer was that they would have run out. No information about events or special Christmas events. Also, as a hotel guest, one could no longer get a place in one of the restaurants in the hotel on Christmas Eve. Everything runs very chaotically as if the entire staff has started over or has not been trained on procedures. The complete stay does not do justice to a 5 star hotel and especially the amount requested, so we would not book this hotel anymore.

The check-in was very quick and the friendly staff even made a small hotel tour with us. The hotel language is English, there are some employees who speak German.
The Grand Deluxe room has appealed to us very much in terms of style. For some it may be too dark, but the furniture is well maintained (except the small, round side table with scratches/marks in the toilet seemed rather cheap). The bathroom itself is spacious and clean. Unfortunately, both were rather heavily scratched and in one the water drained very slowly. The second would have to be reported by Housekeeping for it to be fixed. The turn-down service was as it should be.
The breakfast is good quality and the choice is "ok" but you don't have a "wow effect". The hot buffet includes: Cipollata, bacon, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, poached eggs, potatoes, tomatoes and a dal. Other hot dishes (fried eggs, omelettes, vegan scrambled eggs, porridge oats) can be ordered à la carte (included), but somehow it is odd that "egg benedicts" should cost extra in such a house (if you don't want the lukewarm poached eggs from the buffet). The service at breakfast is very fluctuating: Some employees are very attentive, others seem to be unskilled staff.
In the evening we visited the in-house restaurant for a wine&dine. Unfortunately, the waiter did not know about it and proudly presented us with the menu. When we approached him about booking a package, he had to clarify it first. Unpleasant was then the appearance of the Somelier five minutes later, who wanted to offer us a wine consultation and again knew nothing about our package. In my view, this is not the expected service. The "asian menu to share" was very good, though.
My worry child is the SPA. Somehow I couldn't really relax. At the indoor pool, many are occupied (without people). In addition, many guests simply do not respect that you do not want to appear in photos without being asked. The "adults only" area was often crowded and noisy. Whole groups gathered in the warm pool. All saunas and steam rooms are textile-free. On the one hand, it is difficult to change due to the construction, as you have to do this somehow in the public area (in semi-open shower niches) on the other hand, very many guests do not comply and go to the sauna/steam room with bathing clothes. Here the staff would have to intervene, because I myself observed a group of men who went sweaty after the steam bath ohnde shower right into the pool.
Conclusion: The stay was nice. But from my point of view, price/performance is not quite right and there are better options in the price segment in Switzerland.

I booked a deluxe suite at Chedi Andermatt for a special occasion – my company’s birthday – and had arranged some surprises in advance.
Unfortunately, the stay did not meet the expectations you might have with a 5-star hotel in this price range and we were downright disappointed.
The suite should be emphasized positively: It was very stylishly decorated and spacious, which basically made our stay pleasant. However, this experience was marred by several omissions on the part of the hotel.
At first, a birthday card and a small cake were promised as a surprise, which were completely forgotten. The food and ambience at “The Restaurant” was also average, which is disappointing for a hotel of this class. At dinner, my companion was neither congratulated on his birthday nor offered a glass of champagne.
Especially annoying was the handling of a gift that a friend of mine had sent to the hotel: A bottle of champagne and a birthday card that came from Florian. Since we know several people with the first name Florian, we inquired about the client at the reception. Initially, despite intensive research, the hotel staff were unable to find out who had organized the gift. The next day, however, we were told that it was a gift from the hotel and that a typo caused by the autocorrection had resulted in the name “Florian” – in fact, it should have read “Front Office”. This pleased us for the time being and let the disappointment of the forgotten cake and the card take a back seat. In retrospect, however, this turned out to be a brazen hoax, as our friend Florian still came forward and confirmed that the champagne and birthday card came from him. Thus, the hotel itself had nothing organized for the birthday, which leaves a bland aftertaste.
Although we shared our experience in writing after our departure, no apology or feedback came. For a hotel of this category, such customer service is extremely disappointing. Here you simply expect more professionalism and attention for the guest. Unfortunately, this stay was anything but the hoped-for birthday highlight.

Dear Anand C
Thank you very much for your kind request and happy to hear that you are planning to visit us next summer. Until round about mid of August it is usually quite nice weather, however since we are on 1440m above sea level you may never predict the weather forecast 100% and there might be also some rainy days. Our Concierge Team is happy to assist you with recommendations for activities or any further requests.
With kind regards from Andermatt
The Chedi Andermatt Team
Dear Werner d,
Thrilled to learn that you intend to visit us next spring.
