We stayed here for 3 nights in a deluxe suite which was enormous! The suite was beautifully appointed with warm wood and leather, soft rugs and wonderful bed, superb mini-bar and coffee machine. Plenty of space for luggage and clothes. The downsides for us were these: the lighting system is complicated and the room was dark. The taps are too powerful for the shallow basin and we got soaked several times till we worked out how to go steadily with the taps! Fabulous Japanese toilet!! On our first night we had the 4 course menu included in our stay and the food was fantastic - the wine pairing was also very good - the sommelier was delightful. Buffet breakfast had excellent selection of many different options. On our first night we arrived back to our room and there was a cake with a note for a different guest saying 'thank you for your stay and have a safe journey home tomorrow' ??? We were a bit confused, so we rang down and said we have got a cake and a note for another guest in our room by mistake. They called back and said keep the cake and sorry the note isn't for you. My husband spoke to them the next day as he had asked for a cake for me as a surprise for my birthday - unfortunately the surprise was ruined - and no-one seemed to pick up on it. I had a spa treatment which was lovely - Chakra balance massage - recommend this for sure! Spa treatment area is beautiful and the relaxation room was so peaceful and quiet. We went to visit the steam and sauna area which is without textiles and were surprised that there were children in the area -so we didn't use the facilities. My husband played golf and it was super. On our last night I was taken ill and the hotel were very supportive the following day and allowed us a late check out which was very helpful. The Chedi is a stunning hotel, with lots of fireplaces and grand rooms - I am not sure it takes full advantage of the mountain views from the balconies as there is so much wood on the facades. Worth a visit for sure! And if you like Cheese -it has the most amazing cheese room!!! On the whole it was good - we just felt that the customer service could have been better from the front of house/reception team over the cake and card.

Dear Lisa P Thank you very much for your recent stay with us and for sharing your personal Chedi experience with us. We would like to thank you for your compliments regarding the infrastructure and design, the hotel rooms and suites, as well as our Cheese Cellar in the main restaurant. We are happy learn that you had overall a wonderful time. Nevetherless, please do accept my sincere apologies for the mixup with the card and your b-day cake, which led to a spoiled b-day surprise. This was clearly a mistake from our side which should not happen at all and it is not in line with our standard, especially that no appropriate reaction on site followed. However, where people are working mistakes may happen. But you may rest assured that your feedback has already been discussed internally in oder to avoid any similiar forthecomes in the future. Once again, we are very sorry for the inconveniences caused and thank you for taking the time and sharing your feedback. It would be a pleasure to welcoming you back soon. Warm regards from Andermatt Jean-Yves Blatt General Manager & The Chedi Andermatt Team

We have just spent an phenomenal 4 nights at the Chedi Andermatt, having stayed in the Muscat chedi a few times we had high expectations and I must say we were blown away on every aspect. The service was exceptional, they had thought of absolutely everything fir a family-we have a 5 and 2 year old daughters and they were greeted with teddies and books, in the room lots of treats and champagne for us. Everything you need (and more!) for a baby was there waiting in the room-change mat, bottle warmer, happy bin, baby bath, and so much more. The restaurant and room service had plastic plates, cups, cutlery for the kids-I hate going to restaurants and they expect young children to eat with large knives/forks and drink from beautiful glasses. Sounds silly but it’s that attention to deal that’s appreciated when traveling with children. The suite was beautiful, service everywhere outstanding. The Japanese on Guitch was outstanding and again the children well looked after. Our only 2 complaints, which are a shame since when you spend so much money it should be included is the 30Fr charge per night for parking at the hotel, this should be included. And the cost of laundry is extremely, and unjustifiably high which is a shame, again with kids you sometime need items washing. We are already planning our next trip to the chedi, hopefully during ski season!

Booked 1 night (my 47th birthday) at 10.00h and arrived 12.00h - fantastic room, surprise wine and cake. WOW ! but Sorry - your 21.00h table is not available - you have to eat the early seating 18.30h - ok, we are flexible. Great dinner - great kitchen !! can we extend 1 extra night ? "sure but will costs 280.- extra we only have Grand rooms left - "any compensation ? I dont want the Grand Deluxe Room" - "No, sorry" (a voucher for a drink at the bar would have done the trick!) next morning - Mr. Muscle (another guest) shows up in trainers and Tank Top and his girlfriend in a Belly-Top (Bauchfrei). The other guests all noticed and started gossiping about it. The head waiter didnt react - but given his young age (looked 22) I understand. When we checked out i told the reception: - room too warm, Aircon not working - the extra price for a room we didnt want with no compensation, not even a drink... why not ? - Mr. Tanktop and his partner – head waiter no reaction - is this how the Chedi wants to present itself ? "no sir - not really" - besides this we loved the stay and thanks for the wine and birthday cake so pls. inform your manager and I expect a reaction. "sure sir - will do so" spending CHF 2300.- in 2 nights but only getting the standard "tell us how you liked your stay email" Could have saved it by reacting ! but I guess - they just dont care... I am missing an old school manager ! The personnel are all kind and well educated but the average age is around 25. Will we go back – probably yes 😉 will I share my thoughts with them – absolutely.

Dear OleSchweiz, Thank you for your kind visit as well as for taking the time to share your feedback on your stay at The Chedi Andermatt. We are very grateful for your very nice words about our rooms and our kitchen. Of course, we noticed the inappropriate clothing of the mentioned guests in your feedback, however, we allowed this in exceptional cases because we had already been informed that his luggage had unfortunately not yet been delivered at the airport. We can assure you that he was well aware of the inappropriate clothing and that he deeply regretted it. Regarding the "compensation" you mentioned again, we are unfortunately unable to give you any other information than we had already discussed on site. Regardless of the fact that the property were booked to capacity in the Deluxe Room category the following day and that our rates on weekends are higher than on other days of the week, as is usual in luxury resort hotels. Furthermore, we would like to point out that you spent the following night in a deluxe suite, which is three categories higher than the previous one and therefore justifiably costs a little more money. How you could come to a "compensation" is beyond our understanding. While The Chedi Andermatt is trying to redefine the luxury hospitality of the 21st century, with its design and architecture, the “old-school” manager had to adapt also the “software” with younger, refreshing and talented employees. We would like to thank you again for your feedback and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you soon again. With best regards, Jean-Yves Blatt General Manager & The Chedi Andermatt Team

Our stay was a real pleasure. The architecture, the room and the design were superb. Very nice spa. Staff friendly and attentive. The restaurant was a bit deceiving but I made a separate review for it.

I haven't written a review for some time, but when The Chedi sent me an email suggesting that I write one, I thought, might as well... The good: - The service is excellent. As you will read below, our room had several issues, which were addressed immediately upon reporting them (though housekeeping *should* have noticed those!), and our drinks for the first dinner were on the house. - Situated perfectly between several famous alpine passes, The Chedi really spoke to my petrol head heart by offering a Morgan 4/4 as a rental. When you're there, take it for a spin, it's divine! - The pool and spa areas look fantastic, with many beautiful details and comfortable lounging options. There is room service for dogs! The bad: - The bidet in our room (think Japanese-style toilet, like Toto) didn't work. - The overflows for both sinks were quite filthy. - One sink didn't drain properly. - The minibar had an opened and half-consumed beverage from the previous guest in it. - The sofa was covered in animal hair. - A sticky stain adorned the coffee table. - Every single corner of a wooden storage box on the bathroom counter was cracked and damaged. - The iPad-operated window shades showed a lot of wear. One was frayed and had a small hole; the other sported some stains. - This one is partially my fault, I suppose. However, I expected a hotel that calls itself "the unusual liaison of Alpine chic and Asian expression" and hosts one of the allegedly best Japanese restaurants in the country to not have that restaurant closed two nights per week. Even though the other restaurant serves Asian-inspired dishes, they were all southeast Asian. This was quite disappointing. - We actually wanted some lunch after our welcome drinks; see ginger ales below, but nobody could be bothered taking our order... - Quite a lot of nudges towards Chedi Residences throughout the premises. Reminded me a little of the time where I accidentally stayed in a time-share resort in the Caribbean. The ugly: - I understand it's an expensive resort, but CHF18 for two ginger ales is outrageous. - Five little pieces of chocolate in the room, another CHF12. - If you want your included breakfast to be more than just bread and juice, expect to pay up; French toast for CHF18, a fruit platter for CHF16, or berries for CHF24! Of all the five-star resorts I've had the privilege of calling my temporary home, The Chedi was the only where I felt some buyer's remorse. You see, it feels like it's expensive just for the sake of being expensive. There is always a mark-up, of course, I understand that, but when equally classed houses offer more for the money, I've got to wonder, how do they do it? Compare the included breakfast at The Chedi with that at [small 23-room boutique hotel overlooking Lake Lucerne, with a very famous pool], or [hotel in Grisons whose name is the postal code of the town, famous for mineral water]; the difference is remarkable! I'm not excessively frugal, don't get me wrong, but I also don't like to feel like I've been taken for a ride. With all the upcharges, however, it's hard not to feel that way. In the meantime, we'll just visit other houses. No hard feelings, it just wasn't meant to be.

Dear tomohirotokugawa Thank you very much for your recent stay with us at The Chedi Andermatt and for taking the time and sharing your personal Chedi experience with us. Thank you very much as well for the compliments regarding our service quality as well as for our hotel facilities. We kindly would like to inform you that all our prices throught the entire hotel are in line with other comparable 5 star luxury resorts in the Swiss Alps. However, we are very sorry to learn that therefore - unlike the majority of our guests - our hotel as a product itslelf could overall not fully convince you and that also our Chedi spirit was not really tangible for you either, which ended up in your decision not to visit us again. We thank you once again for your time and visit and wishing you all the best. Kind regards from Andermatt Jean-Yves Blatt General Manager & The Chedi Andermatt Team
