Second visit in recent times to the sleepy wonder that is Balduinstein. Room was spacious, clean and quiet with a lovely view over the Lahn. We ate at short notice in the restaurant but were accommodated graciously. The meal itself was fantastic. This really is a chef that knows his stuff. An excellent appetiser of Beef Carpaccio that stimulated the... More

We stayed for three nights. Great little hotel in a fantastic setting. Great view of the river from the room. Very clean. Delicious food. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. An easy drive from Frankfurt international airport. We will surely be back again.

I had booked telephonically at another hotel in Balduinstein, which changed hands afterr my booking. Since the room was cold, had no lighting to speak of and no Wifi, I agreed with the new owners that I would look elsewhere. I knocked on the door of Landhotel zum Baeren. Owner Frau Buttel very kindly let me in, even though they... More

This hotel has apparently been receiving travellers for more than hundred years. And you can tell from its interior decoration which provides a very rustic feel. This permeates the place and the rooms too. If you are looking for an original experience this is a hotel that also offers unique landscapes surrounding it. The train station has got quite good... I wasn't expecting much when I booked a night's stay in this quaint and picturesque resort hamlet. What a surprise. The hotel/inn has been run by the same family for seven generations, since 1827, and the care and diligence of that legacy shows. The rooms were simple but beautifully appointed. Our double on the third floor looked out over the... More

An amazing and extremely reasonably priced wine list. Italian reds particularly good. 20 year old Barolos abound. Older wines being "drunk up". Restaurant food keeps up with the wine. Consistently good seasonal menu. Rooms recently redecorated and comfy.

We spent a night at this hotel during our bike tour down the Lahn River, having found the hotel in our biking guide book. The hotel lets you store the bikes in their garage (along with, what I assume was the owner's drop-top sports car). We had room #3 on the first floor facing the river (great), the road and... More

Nestled in a gorgeous river valley the Landhotel zum Baren is an oasis of peace and quiet yet transport links can take one to the city in no time. Making this a perfect spot to literally get away from it all. The village itself is compact and idyllic with riverside walks, a ruined castle and winding streets. Nestled in the... More

I recently stayed 2 nights at the Landhotel zum Baeren in Balduinstein, as a halfway point between a Friday meeting in southern Germany, and a Monday meeting in Kiel, near the Danish border. The hotel is located in a picturesque, and quiet, small village on the Lahn river, flanked by wooded hills, some with a castle atop. Parking spaces were... More

We just came from from our second stay at the landhotel. We've been there two years ago and I know how things can change for worse with time. Luckily, this hotel provided the same level of quality and cosines as last time. It is located on the river, overlooking a local train rails, surrounded by beautiful mountains and the ruins... More
