I was here in this hotel for very short time frame. Hotel is located 100 mtrs from Train Station and you can walk till hotel very easily. Rooms are big , clean and Tidy. Front desk experience was not so good as person there was unable to spek or understand English. Breakfast was OK.

For a 2 day stay in this mid-sized spa city on the fabled Romantic Road, we opted for this small hotel in the downtown area. Spartan but immaculately clean, our largish room boasted of twin beds, a sofa and table, TV and armoire. The best thing was the huge shower area in the bathroom that was a great luxury and which we thought was so much better than a traditional bath-tub. It was a pity though that the towels were rather thin – from too much washing perhaps… We regretted that accoutrements for early coffee or tea were not available in the room. But the breakfast (that came with the room price) was agreeably copious and had nice fresh German charcuterie. We also liked the free parking located right in front of the building. Staff were courteous, attentive and pleasant. Note: The bright blue wall to wall carpet – with its pattern of white fleur de lis – was rather jarring and did not, in my opinion, fit with the hotel’s over-all atmosphere.

The Greek restaurant is very nice and welcoming. They have a wide variety of healthy and fresh food and the waiting staff typically speak very good English. The hotel changed management in Dec 16 and is rebranding. I stayed there for a number of weeks. It is one of the most comfortable and nice hotel rooms in Bad Merg. - you should ask for a business style room as for an extra 10 Euro (correct at time of posting) you get a bedroom and living area. The bathrooms are luxurious in the business style rooms with large walk in showers and floor to ceiling tiles. I stayed in the winter and it was also very well heated. Each room has a mini fridge, tv & good lighting. There are a couple of things that I noted as a bit of a pain. - you don't have a kettle in room - laundry can be done but takes about a week and is expensive. - reception closes at 8pm so if there is a problem after that time it's difficult to know what to do. (If you need to checkin after 8 just go round to restaurant but they are separate businesses) The hotel staffs English is less fluent and as a result I suggest emailing any request to avoid misunderstanding as a couple of times they cancelled my reservation or bumped me to an inferior room. Wifi is through a fiddly password but once your online it's fast and reliable Hotel Alexander is a very popular venue book early to avoid disappointment I hope the current rebrand does not change it too much.

Spent a night in this hotel and the hotel looks modern and nice from the exterior. Despite the cold winter outside, the very friendly greetings by the Greek male owner make us feel warm and welcome. We were assigned to a room at ground level, one room away from the reception. The room was very very spacious and clean. The room was also equipped with a toilet that almost has 3/4 size of the room. Only downside of the room is that there is one tiny window at the corner of the room, which is not a problem for us. We had our dinner at the Greek restaurant next to the hotel and I have to say the quality of the food was really good. It is more towards fine dining style and the the servers in the restaurants, just like the hotel owner, all look rather jovial, light-hearted and friendly. So if you want to have a getaway to a more joyful place, this hotel will be definitely a good accommodation for you.

The place is cozy and with an outside dining, which we enjoyed during the late spring. They have really good authentic Greek food. I know, because we went there with 2 Greek friends and they vouched for ihe food's authenticity. The owners were there to take care of their customers, and they even sit and chat with them, and when they did with us, gave us a free drink and dessert. We made friends with them, and will surely go back there, next time we visit the town
