The room was on the top floor and tidy, clean and comfortable with fresh fruit provided. Breakfast is an extensive buffet which was continuously refreshed. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Car parking is limited but there is a car park about 100 yards away (cost about 5 euros for overnight parking). The location is only a few minutes... More

I used the Alt Wernigeroder Hof as my base for touring the Harz Mountains, primarily on the steam trains that are a worldwide attraction for railway enthusiasts. I stayed for 10 days; seven on my own and three with a travelling companion. I booked the superior double to ensure the same room for my entire visit. The management kindly adjusted... More

The hotel has well-appointed rooms; friendly and effiicient service; and an amazing choice at breakfast. It is midway between the railways - for the quaint local steam trains and services to the rest of Germany - and the centre of the very attractive town, where there are some good places for an evening meal.

Situated between station & city centre, 5-10 mins walk to each. The superior rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable leather chair & footstool. The standard rooms somewhat more basic, and the single room just had a small velux window, with curtains that didn't keep ot the light. Excellent breakfast buffet. Some staff spoke English, all were very helpful. Convenient supermarket... More

The room was good, pillows strange. I would suggest taking your own pillow case, folding their pillow and stuffing into own pillow case to get a proper pillow. Staff were pleasant. Food, mainly buffet was varied and tasty. Salads good. Breakfasts particularly good. Not very good at cups of tea best to collect from buffet first as takes 5 mins... More

Stayed here with family/friends in October. A few people at the desk, only one was really nice and unfortunately for us the one who spoke English was quite aloof. We were shown to our rooms and told the elevator was temporarily out of order, but it was obvious from the sign on the elevator it had been that way for... More

We had one night at this hotel and were surpriced by the size of the room. It was quite big and even so the bathroom. Only problem was the fact that we had to shower in the tub and that it was not possible to stand up due to the low walls/ceilings. There was both a welcome note and a... More

Thanks to Tripadvisor we had no problem finding this excellent hotel: it is a few minutes from the main train station, and a great base to start exploring Goslar (the mines!), Quedlinburg (lovely fairy tail village with half-timbered houses and cobblestone streets) and Thale (beautiful walk along the Bode valley). We were welcomed by the extremely friendly staff, and in... More

We stayed 3 nights & were pleased with our stay. The hotel is an easy walk from the station and to the town centre. Much has been written elsewhere about the huge breakfast, with so many choices in every category...fruits, meats, cheeses as well as many options for cereals and juices..amazing! Our room was large, with a separate sitting area,... More

My recent 3-night stay was generally quite pleasant. Seriously, the breakfast buffet was exceptionally extensive and very good selections of fruit, vegetables, breads and rolls, meats, cheeses, jams, etc. plus a couple hot sausages, scrambled eggs and soft-cooked and harder-cooked eggs - plus more. Extremely rare to find such an extensive breakfast at such an unbelievably affordable room price. The... More
