We stayed here in Oct 2016 - this would be one of the nicest family run hotels we have stayed at. From the time of our arrival to our departure nothing was a problem - the staff took time to get to know us and chat to us - about our trip in Germany and Australia. We booked a room...

A well appointed hotel with a few added attractions. Certain tables in the dining room are served by the drinks arriving on a model railway reflecting the Harzbahn which operates extensively from the town. This is complemented by another model railwaywhich operates in the ceiling, but neither are obtrusive to the diner. A very varied menu and the staff proved...

눉 Negative points: The latest you could order a meal for was 8.00 pm The bar closed at 10.pm Morning staff sullen Don't take rolls out of the dining room - they will charge you 6 euros! The old town was deserted in the evenings - I thought that the zombie holocaust had started! 눇 Plus points: Proximity to the...

Ideal for the railway enthusiast and a nice comfortable hotel too with large tastefully decorated rooms. The experience of having the beer delivered to the table by train including sound effects was the best bit. The restaurant food was very good and we had no problems getting a table even on a Saturday night. Great breakfast buffet to set us...

Excellent place for rail fans. Constant activity from our window with trains coming and going all the time. The English speaking staff were very helpful and the breakfasts and evening meals were first class. Parking at the hotel can be tricky at busy times; space is limited. Overall, a very pleasant experience which I may well repeat in the future.

We wanted to visit the Harz and Wernigerode seemed an ideal base. This hotel is first class and appears to be run by a railway enthusiast - old railway posters feature large in this hotel . The hotel is clean and well decorated, the staff friendly and helpful, and on checking in we were presented with a book of vouchers...

We only ate at this hotel but were very impressed by being able to sit overlooking the Harz Steam railway and watch the engines being moved about. Having drinks delivered to your table by train set my grandson thinking he could set up something similar at home with his own trains! The food was good and we were sorry we...

We only had an overnight here but found it excellent. The location near the HSB and mainline station but still only a few minutes from the town is excellent. The restaurant food was great with the added quirk of the drinks being delivered by model train. The room was fairly spacious and comfortable and the breakfast had all the right...

This hotel suited my purposes well. It was handy for the train station (our mode of holiday transport) but there was no train noise to keep us awake. A very reasonable price for the room size and a breakfast that was perfectly adequate, if not quite as high quality in ingredients as many this week.

Clean, comfortable and excellent value hotel overlooking the steam shed on the Harz narrow gauge railway, a steam enthusiasts dream. Good beer and good food although booking a table is almost essential if yu wish to dine in the restaurant. Drinks are delivered to your table by a model railway, will keep you entertained for ages. Very helpful staff with...
