A great place for a stopover with good traditional food and cosy family atmosphere. Settled in a quiet village not far from the busy highways. Clean , fresh and friendly with a history of hospitality over many years . This non heard of country place gives you a treat that many famous boutique hotels would be very envious about.
Gasthaus Weingut should be a destination for all hospitalty schools to learn about how to provide service and good feeling among guests .

Gasthaus Weingut Stahl was beyond our expectations for the perfect accommodations, wonderful wine, and amazing food (both dinner and breakfast). The location allowed us to explore a large area of the Rhine and come back for a delicious glass of wine before experiencing a phenomenal meal. And then, to wake up to a delightful breakfast with many choices. The room was extremely comfortable and nicely appointed. Thank you!

The first-class, owner-managed guesthouse offers pure relaxation, the food is excellent, and the historic wine cellar invites you to enjoy wine tasting. The surroundings satisfy all expectations of Rhine romance. A beautiful place to unwind.

A beautiful hotel in its style where one comes to seek the calm which one unfortunately does not find in the evening and at night in the valley due to the train traffic on both sides of the Rhine, as well as the roads on both sides of the Rhine too. That said, I regret that I was not allocated the type of room I had reserved, namely a room with a balcony overlooking the garden. In fact, I received a room overlooking the street, less quiet due to the activity of the winegrowers. The night is very calm. The restaurant offers decent food at a very reasonable price. The breakfast is varied and plentiful and led expertly by a very dynamic and friendly lady.

Excellent guest house that I would return to if I was in the area again. Everything about it is just perfect from the breakfast to the dinner to the wine and the general family atmosphere. It's not situated in Oberwesel but just outside up a hill so don't expect a view of the Rhine. This could be an advantage though as it's very quiet. Our dog was welcomed. Excellent in terms of comfort and cleanliness as well. Great base to explore the area and there is a nearby car ferry (5-10 mins) to get to the other side of the river. One of my favourite places on my European trip.

What a wonderful place in Germany. Beautiful even in the fall. Ofmisschorn especially in the fall. Always "At Home" with the Stahl family... that was 54 years ago. And it still is. ALSO with the new generation Paul Stahl, who took over from parents Elisabeth and Eric Stahl. Warm welcome and "nothing" has changed. Naturally, everything is now modernized and full of modern comfort. The rooms are spacious, light, clean and very comfortable. Beds are great and the bedding is very nice. That struck me. And everything is super clean! Pleasant shower and sinks with more than enough storage space.
The food is FANTASTIC and the menu is extensive but not exaggerated.
We had a blast!
The breakfast also great.
Although everything used to be at the table, there is now an extensive breakfast buffet. And by extensive I mean extensive! Fantastic.
I just haven't seen any gluten free...
Of course you won't leave Gasthaus Stahl without trying the delicious wines from Peter Stahl. Which also went home in the trunk..

In short.
Made the beginning of another tradition to come there more often.

Where do I begin? We are a family of five and trusted the online reviews in deciding to stay at this property. We couldn't have made a better decision. Looking back, this was THE highlight of our entire five week trip to Europe. We stayed in five-star hotels, rented villa's and flats, but for some reason this place was just better. I'll try to explain.

First, this is not a five star resort. The property is sizable, probably has about 20 rooms in a unique hotel setup and would aesthetically be viewed as a two or three star hotel in the USA. Please know that the property is extremely clean and has very fast wifi--which was a pleasant surprise. it's However, the location, the people, the food, the wine and overall experience is off the charts! It's not something you can replicate easily in the USA.

The Gasthaus is situated about a mile or so from the river, up a big hill so it's beneficial to have a car. There is ample parking and the little town is so cute and safe that it reminds you of Mulberry from the Andy Griffith show. There is a nice little park with swings and zip line a couple steps from the property--the kids loved it.

Of course they have the wines downstairs with free taste testing. They also have grape juice down there for the kids. But the best part is the owner and his family. Paul is an accredited chef and his food is the absolute best. Breakfasts are huge and unbelievably good. You should plan on eating breakfast and dinner there every night--they'll seat you at the same tables and you'll see the same people there each day.

We used the Gasthaus as our base and explored the Rhine and Mosel area. Others, enjoy the miles of trails and hikes that you can take right from their location. I'm going to try to get back to Germany so we can enjoy an entire week at the Gasthaus. If you're coming from the USA, believe the hype and give this place a shot, and be sure to give yourself enough days so you can enjoy all it has to offer. You'll also want to come back!

Our second stay at this family run Weingut Gasthaus Stahl. There is no better value up and down the Rhine. Your host, Johan Paul Stahl is fluent in English. This is a tough place to book, since it is a favorite of the local and regional German vacationers. Located just five minutes up the hill from the river town of Oberwesel, you are away from traffic and train noise in a quiet, typical German village. Weingut means, "Wine Estate" and the gasthaus features a beautiful FREE wine cellar for your tasting pleasure. The rooms are modern and large. Breakfast is included in the price and it is fantastic in scope. Be sure to order the scrambled eggs from the hostess, and also try her fresh baked pastries each day. If you can get it, ask for room 41 with balcony--it is large, comfortable and has a great view of the village and the rolling farmlands beyond. The dinner menu is more than adequate and reasonably priced. Many castles to see within 20 minutes driving time, and be sure to catch the KD boat trip up and down the Rhine from Oberwesel to Rudesheim, about a 2 hour trip each way. Great shopping in Rudesheim, and beautiful views of Rhine castles up and down the river.

This was our second trip to Gasthaus Stahl, having discovered the place largely by accident last year and enjoyed it so much we planned a second trip with friends. 9 of us stayed for 4 nights, including 5 vegetarians, 4 teens and all tastes were catered for. Rooms large, cool and v.clean. Food and wine excellent, breakfasts run by Krista are something else, the cakes, quiche and scrambled eggs put inches on my waist line. We stayed half board which is excellent value and we enjoyed our pre dinner trip to the wine cellar to choose our selection for the evening meal! Paul, his family and staff are charming and helpful hosts, this rubs off on the guests and makes a very friendly establishment to visit. Loads of things to do in the area, vineyard walks from the Hotel, bike rides into Boppard, cable car up to Gideon's Eke for lunch, Rhine cruise, trip along the Moselle to the charming town of Cochem. Allready planning our next trip back - highly recommended.

The Stahl Gasthuis was absolutely one of most wonderful experiences. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Paul (Stahl) and his family and employees we were treated like family. I am still smiling about the wonderful stay there and the FOOD! Rooms are very clean and very comfortable. Oberwessel is a beautiful town and the daily Rhine River cruises just put the icing on the cake for us. We were with Oma, Opa and ourselves and we just have beautiful memories and smiles about our stay there.
The whole family and workers there bend over so backwards to give you everything you need or could every want.
