Staying about 5km away from Spielweg it had been impressed on us by a German friend, now living in England, that we would appreciate this hotel by going for a meal. We called in to book a table a few days before and duly turned up on the Monday evening. We were greeted warmly by Christin (who we had booked... More

Spielweg is a family owned hotel and restaurant. Rooms are nice, our room was spacious but they have cheaper ones that are smaller. Rooms are correctly priced. Restaurant offers good quality German food. Ideal location for a walking holiday. The only downside is the communication possibilities. The hotel cannot help that they are out of mobile network reach. But they... More

Truly elegant classic German family owned Black Forest Hotel. Faultless service, beautiful spa, superb position making access to surrounding walking simple. Food is very good , although portion sizes sometimes are a little small and if you are a vegetarian this may not be a good hotel to eat in! All this comes at a price though and rarely was... More

We did not stay here but stopped in to enjoy a cold drink and to gaze at the truly amazing view from the outdoor patio. I had a coffee and a delicious piece of Black Forest Cake. My son had cold, sparkling apple juice. It could be very easy to completely pass this hotel by, its off the main road... More

The Fuchs family and their attentive staff ensured we spent a lovely weekend break for in the Black Forest, Southern Germany. We joined 3 other families for a weekend of hiking, excellent dining and exploring the southern Alsace and stayed at the Romantik Hotel which is a great choice. This is a family run (6th generation) hotel with exceptional service.... More

This not the first time we visited the Spielweg. Our first experience was over 20 years ago. On this occaision I was accompanied by my daughter , her husband and their 3 children who are aged between 11 and 15. The geographical location of the Inn is too picturesque to adequately describe. It is in a verdant valley surrounded by... More

A lovely hotel, an older traditional style but you don't miss the modern here, it is just as it should be. Probably good for just a short stay unless you are a hiker, but I enjoyed driving around the hilltops and exploring the small towns just down in the valley below. Pros: Lovely riverside setting, the 2 dinners and breakfasts... More

Hotel is in a beautiful location ideal for walking and enjoying the magnificent countryside. Reception staff are a bit stiff and smiles don't come easy! Hotel is quaint and has a very authentic feel. Walls are adorned with Tomi Ungerer illustrations which are interesting. Rooms were very comfortable and well equipped, including gowns and slippers, with views of the Black... More

This hotel is quite literally one of the nicest places I have ever been to. Its situated in the picturesque Muenstertal in the Black-forest. The building is kept in a very traditional look which makes it so nice. However the rooms do not lack any modern equipment and are outstanding. A lot of space, comfy beds, very clean, great room-service.... More
