I traveled Tribuga's Gulf for 30 days during December 2020 and early January 2021 and Mecana Hotel was definitely the best place I had the pleasure to stay in. Not only it is geographically OUTSTANDING, in front of the gorgeous Mecana Beach and surrounded by the most amazing fauna and flora, that happens to be a privately owned Botanic Garden, but also the staff that work there are incredible, starting with Marlene who is perhaps, one of the best cooks in the region, lovely Angel and Jackson that always have a smile in their faces and many others which names I not longer remember. Dona Adela, the owner, made me feel like home literally, I was spoiled and well taken care of, something that, as a solo traveler, is highly appreciate it. The garden itself is pretty amazing, very unique with abundant plants and animals, I even saw a Harpy Eagle and tons of amazing birds and amphibians. I highly recommend this place, the price is super fair for an incredible experience! They also offer a few pretty interesting excursions and their guide, Antonio, is very knowledgeable about the plants in the area! There is also opportunity to interact with the locals if this is something that interests you without being invasive.…
We stayed here as a family with Colombia Inspira to whale watch and stayed with Chacha and her staff. Right on the beach, super host and great staff made this stay truly memorable. We stayed in the separate stilted room, four poster and felt in the lap of luxury, with our own piece of private beach. Can’t recommend enough. 6 stars! Thanks Chacha and staff for a great stay. Wished we could have stayed on
I was recommended Jardin Botánico by a friend and it did not disappoint. Just a short flight from the in city airport in Medellin. I was met at the airport and taken in a tuk tuk to the beach where I was met by the host Luisa. For those of you still struggling to learn Spanish Luisa speaks perfect English! The hotel is on 5km of almost deserted beach. It is a beautifully constructed wooden building that works perfectly with the jungle backdrop. My room had its own bathroom and private terrace with a hammock to while away the hours with a good book. All your meals are included in the price and I can honestly say it was the best food I've eaten in Colombia. The tuna empanadas on the first night were a real high point. Two local women prepare all the meals using local sourced produce. Luisa arranged for me and two other guests to go for a hike in the jungle. The guide was very knowledgeable and the path suitable for all abilities. I cannot recommend Jardin Botánico highly enough. If you are looking for somewhere off the normal tourist trail this is the place. I am looking forward to going back already.…
You will fall in love with this place. It's the perfect spot for relaxing, jungle tours and whale watching as well as enjoying amazing secluded beaches at sunset. The hosts are wonderful people and will make you feel at home. Peace and love to them. Highly recommended place!
I planned on staying two nights and ended up staying more than a week :)! Points that i wrote down in my diary to not forget: - sea is clear and has perfect temperature - food is amazing + healthy (need some of the recepies) - rooms are clean simple and cozy - sounds: only waves and birds and sometimes pans and potts outta the kitchen :) - there is wifi and always clean water to shower - you have a beach for your own, most of the times it was really JUST me on the beach(which is super clean and long) - thounds of animals like birds crabs frogs butterflies and fish - there are NOT many Mosquitoes! Activities: go fishing , kayaking, hiking with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, lie in a hammock
