This past June I was visiting very dear old friends from my time when I studied art and lived in Milan. Because this was a special evening, my friends took me to one of their favorite restaurants. We sat on the terrace and with our backs to the building, we faced to valley and hills beyond. It about 8PM when we arrived and the sun was beginning to set. The few clouds were beginning to reflect the suns final rays, against the light blue sky. They went from yellow, orange, and peach, to hints of lavender then to purples. The show was beautiful. We had lunch here on our way to Gubbio. The food was OK and it was in an ideal locations for us on our way to Gubbio, but I would not go out of my way to go to this place. It was a good strong three in my opinion. The pasta was the best!

We stayed at Il Castellaccio one weekend, taking advantage of a Smartbox package that had been given to us. The experience was absolutely positive. The Hotel is in a wonderful location, with a crazy view of the Umbrian hills, breakfasts and dinners on the terrace with that view remained in our hearts. Beautiful pool with the same view and the possibility to consume at the bar. Excellent cuisine, for those who have like us a Smartbox there is a dedicated menu, but if you want to dine à la carte the Hotel gives the opportunity to do so by scaling the cost of the box meal. The Lady at reception is very kind and nice, prepared, helpful and with the joke ready! If we happen again in those parts we will be back for sure. Highly recommended!
