Two families sharing 3 rooms, we visited here during the UK easter holidays and, because of the altitude, the snow was amazing (so was the sunshine!). This is my second visit to the hotel and I was pleased we returned. True and perfect ski in and ski out located on the slopes. Skiing down to the lifts in the morning and back to the door in the afternoon. The hotel itself is uber cool, with retro chic design facets and a couple of awesomely on trend bars. The restaurants are great, Zinc being the main one, and the food is stunning. Drinks and prices are a bit steep but that's a Val Thorens thing as a whole and certainly not exclusive to this hotel. The ski shop is awesome and the guys down there are super helpful and recommend well. Also, if you're experienced and want to try different skis / kit out you can always arrange to do that too. Definitely worth it, and definitely somewhere we'll return to.

during ski holiday, we tried this for the first time. Great lunch outside at the bar, and very large and super lunch, with a nice winelist as well. We had a great Cesar Salat, and a tomato soup and a big curry poulet/chicken. Understand that the Hotel is great as well.

We just returned from a week skiing trip with friends. Had two rooms next to each other with an adjoining door in between us which we opened and was great. The staff was very nice and tried to accommodate our needs up to a point. The decor was all black and white with a zebra carpet and doors were black and white pictures of skiing. Too much!! The rooms were good size but missing a dresser to put clothing. We had a hanging closest but no drawers. Instead there was a bookcase like hanging with a safe inside a small closed space. There were no electrical sockets near the beds. The window was small and the room next door obstructed a full view of the resort. We had breakfast which was ok. There was a electrical water bath to boil eggs and even after one hour the egg was still not a hard boiled egg but soft and watery. There was only scrambled eggs prepared and no option for omelette or anything other egg option. There was the same selection each day. Had they had a daily special it would have added a lot. There was no plain yogurt only sweetened with fruit sauces. There was a car service into town but stopped at 9 pm which is too early in my opinion. Lastly we were charged the tourist fee on the 20/7 although we arrived only at 3am on the 21st. Since we left at 6 am there was no management to speak with although the reception person was very nice. The spa was fine but missing a jacuzzi and pool as well as drinking glasses that were always empty and untidy. No one was stationed there and some very smelly people left their odor in the sauna. The ski room was nice but the bar was closed all the time we were there. We needed to adjust the bindings or buy something and the person working was unfriendly taking French speaking customer before us even though we arrived first. Still need to learn to give good service. The place has great potential because of its location but requires a redo in amenities in the dining area hotel rooms and employee training might help too .

We stayed for 7 nights and booked through inghams on a half board basis. As we entered the hotel to check in we were met with a really over powering scent which I thought was aftershave but after a few days discovered it was a candle..... it made me feel quite ill and I held my breath each time I went past reception. I think it may be to have masked the smell of cigarettes as guests tended to congregate around the hotel entrances to smoke. Our room was facing the ski slopes and was a really lovely view and it was very clean and felt comfortable. My only niggles here were 1) rooms are too hot and stuffy, open window but it flaps around the curtain and is very cold instead! Adjusted heating to off but still very stuffy which hinders ability to sleep. 2) Bed not comfy and very hard mattress and pillows not at all nice. I prefer something medium especially after being on skis all day..... rest is important. 3) No air vents or demisters in the bathroom. If you want to see your face after a bath/shower you’ll need to wait half an hour with the door open! Towels had seen better days and they were now ‘off white’ and some had holes/tears in. Food, being half board breakfast and dinner was included. Dinner on the first night was nice, I had a lovely soup and then a cold sushi type bowl with raw salmon, avocado and pomegranate. The next evening it was rather bland and too sweet, I had veal Milanese (crispy breaded and served with spaghetti in tomato sauce) I ate a small amount but it was hard work so gave up! Chicken and chips another night which was sooo dry and taste less that it make KFC look like a gourmet meal. After 3 meal attempts we ended up eating at other restaurants nearby (all very expensive!!). Breakfast choices were very good though and there was a huge buffet selection of hot and cold foods and cereals. Fruits and yoghurt and cheese. We tended to fill up in the mornings to last till the evening meal. The hotel has a vibe which lends itself well towards younger couples/groups and this was apparent in the well stocked but expensive bar and the music which pumped out from after breakfast till early hours was geared towards that same age group. On 2 evenings there were large parties and crazy dancing on tables whilst the staff poured vodka or other spirits directly from the bottles into the mouths of guests..... it was still daylight and a few of the children who were present were literally gawping at the behaviour of the staff and guests!!!! Not the family hotel it insists it is..... in fact we were disturbed from sleeping by very loud music on 2 nights into the early hours but one night it went on sooo loudly until 230/3am. The next day it started at 230pm and was switched off at 830pm although I believe that was only because so many guests had complained. Some staff are nice and friendly but others are downright rude and demanding the bill paid before we had even finished our first round of drinks (of which the staff had dropped one round all over my leg and ski coat). €9 a pint of beer and €12 for a aperol spritz is robbery!!!! We may return to Val Thorens but shall not return to this hotel which felt like a youth hostel not a 4 star ‘luxury’ hotel which had supposed won awards!! Don’t bother visiting it’s not worth the disappointment
