Montana lodge offered an excellent experience for a ski holiday with the family. The apartment was comfortable with easy access to the pistes, ski room and spa which was perfect after skiing. Very recommendable.

Expensive, but worth it. We have stayed in other Montana Lodge properties in Val Thorens in past years and thought the standard to be above other properties in the town. When looking for a ski in/out apartment for a family ski break, we came across a brand new property “Montana Lodge” sat next to their main Montana Residence. The details on the website are very good, showing the floor plan for each apartment, and everything is listed by square meter, so you can compare the space easily. It’s billed as a five star property, which it is and the apartments are very well appointed with a fully equipped if small kitchen and good dining and lounge space, their is also a spa with pool, steam room and sauna. We stayed in apartment 35, overlooking the main ski run through the town, yards from the Peclet & Cascade ski lifts, with the kiddie ski school directly outside. Our kids are fully grown, so no need for the ski crèche, but they loved the apartment, the standard and location make it an easy recommendation, but at £3,000+ just for accommodation it’s not going to be in everyone’s reach, but we will stump up this price for a family ski holiday but will baulk if it was for a beach holiday. But they did appreciate decent TV’s in the bedrooms and a large screen in the lounge. There is a reception, manned from 8:00am - 8:00pm, very friendly and helpful, good for booking restaurants etc, but a good source of local information. There are a couple of improvements we would like to see: - [ ] Connectivity, there should be a option to plug devices into the tv’s direct from a wall socket. - [ ] Bluetooth sound system or phone dock, some music facility would be great - [ ] Boot room, while the space is good, the floor does get very wet and there should be rubber matting that keeps your feet above the water, the provided slippers just get soaked through. - [ ] Bathroom doors have a glass panel, covered by an opaque transfer, but this transfer has a clear patten, so people can see through, not good for privacy sensitive young adults, full opaque transfers on any bathroom doors please. Overall though a great apartment, good standard and fantastic location, hopefully they will spend enough on maintenance to keep everything in good order. I am certain we will be back as a family and as a couple.

After 25 years of visiting the resort I can safely recommend Montana Lodge as one of the best places to stay during your visit to Val Thorens. Ideal slope access, family-friendly apartments with high level furnishing/equipment and a cosy and intimate SPA area. Will be back for sure for years to come.

One of the newest Montana apartments, very spacious 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment with fully equipped kitchen but no washing machine. We stayed in no. 42, with good views of the slopes. Contemporary apartment, ski in ski out. Ski lockers downstairs near small pool/spa, sauna and steam room. Very popular patisserie conveniently located next door where we purchased our daily croissants for breakfast or baguette for lunch, or, for an extra charge you can request to have it delivered to your room. Also conveniently located next door is Inter Sport shop where you can hire your skis at a discounted rate as a guest of Montana Lodge. We also booked our ski lift passes through Montana Lodge and they were able to access discounted rates and have it ready for our arrival to the Lodge. Across the road is the lift to access the walkway bridge that connects to the upper section of the street. Only disappointment was when we entered our room it had a strong dog odour. Every room including the bathroom had a bad dog odour. Although their website stated no dogs allowed, there was definitely a dog living in this apartment for the week. Housekeeping must have known this because all the windows were left opened to air the room when we walked in. The floor wasn't cleaned properly as there were still dog hair all over the floor, and there was evidence of a dog living in the apartment as there were dog paw marks on the snow on the balcony. Having complained to the Receptionist to ask housekeeping deodorise and vacuum the apartment, it took 2 hours before housekeeping attended to the matter. Meanwhile we were left in an apartment cold as we had to leave all windows and balcony sliding door opened to air the apartment from the odour. As with some ski lodges we've stayed at elsewhere, I would suggest they place a plastic tray outside or inside the apartment door (big enough to store 4 pairs of shoes) so guests can place their dirty wet shoes in it or else the apartment can get very dirty. We usually take our shoes off and leave it by the front door to avoid dirtying the apartment. Also, a small vacuum cleaner would be handy if we needed to clean the floor during the week since there is no cleaning done for the duration of your stay, New towels are provided on Wednesdays but they failed to take away the old dirty towels so we had quite a few old towels cluttering our bathroom. Our wifi wasn't working smoothly during the week. Overall, service was good.
