I booked this hotel in March 2020 for a group of 4 of us that were heading to the Mountain of Hell bike race in Deux Alpes. Because of the uncertainty surrounding Covid I booked a rate that could be cancelled for a full refund. The hotel never sent me a booking confirmation but I had the sense to take a screenshot of the booking when it was confirmed on screen. Just as well I did because I never received a confirmation e mail, not to my inbox, junk mail or anywhere else. So in April when the race was eventually cancelled I called the hotel to cancel my booking. Just an answerphone so I guessed they must have closed due to the Covid lockdown. So I e mailed them to confirm our cancellation - again nothing. At least 2 more phone calls and another e mail yielded no response from them whatsoever. So I contacted my credit card company. After a long wait and several pieces of communication I finally received a refund from my credit card company saying it was provisional on the basis that the hotel did not dispute the refund. The hotel have now disputed the refund and I've been debited over £450 for the booking. The hotel have now miraculously produced a booking confirmation which states that the booking was non-cancellable. Now I might be thinking that maybe I clicked on the wrong button when I made this booking, or picked the wrong rate. But myself and my brother in law chose the hotel and the rate together and are both 100% sure that this booking was made on a 60 day cancellation policy. I'm about to take this up with my bank again but I consider the ethics of the hotel totally unfair in this instance. Half of me thinks the failure to send a booking confirmation was deliberate on the part of the hotel so they could claim the room was non-refundable and keep our cash. Not happy. Not happy at all. I certainly won't be booking with the again and if you value your hard earned cash I'd very much suggest you look elsewhere.…
Me and my wife liked a lot the placement of the hotel, placed short walking distance from all important spots of the town. The rooms were very clean. Moreover, the staff was very helpful and we received lots of friendly advice what and how to do in the surrounding mountains. To conclude, I highly recommend and will definitely come back.
Liked: * small family run hotel with nice hosts; * parking right near the hotel; * shops, restaurants and ski-lifts within walking distance (10 mins max - even with ski-boots on); * breakfast is OK; * really close to the road and easy to reach; Disliked · Not much. If I really have to say something, I'd suggest some fresh coats of paint, probably newer windows. We were really happy there.
We were greeted warmly by Sorina, who explained all of the facilities and got us settled. She also gave us a voucher to get a 30% discount on ski hire at the shop next door. The rooms are very clean, the breakfast is excellent and the location of the hotel is perfect. Ski bus outside and only a 5 minute walk to the Diablo chair lift. Bars and restaurants all around. Where this hotel really excelled was in its treatment of us after the French government started to ramp up travel restrictions owing to the covid-19 virus. A lot of hotels closed to customers on Saturday night and friends of ours in Meribel were told to leave and had to make emergency travel plans to fly home two days early. In contrast, Sorina and her husband could not have treated us better. We were the only remaining guests in the hotel on Sunday night and rather than shut, they stayed open specifically to cook us dinner and ensure we had lodging until our return flight was due to go on Monday. They even opened the restaurant and served us breakfast on Monday morning before we left. I cannot thank them enough for looking after us so selflessly in very difficult circumstances. I urge anyone that wants great hospitality on their holidays to visit and support these wonderful people. Thank you both for your help once again Sorina. Hope you enjoy the champagne!…
Simple hotel , no luxury but very clean and very friendly people! great value for the money! Everything clean, simple braekfast. The coffee should be better in the morning, but all the rest was fine. Heated and secured ski storage.
What a great find this was. A1 location near bars shops and lifts, lovely owners, great breakfast and amazing value. The owners were very hospital looking after our group of 12 mates. Thanks so much for looking after us.
This is a lovely hotel with a great ambiance! We were a party of 20 (friends and families from 17- 50 years old). The hosts couldn’t do any more to make us feel welcome and provide information to make our stay so easy. The rooms are typical chalet style, basic furnishings but rooms were exceptionally clean. The continental style breakfast was what we would tropically expect but set us up nicely for the day. The hotel has a pool table which kept us amused during down time, and the cosy, well stocked bar suited us down to the ground. Ski passes are available at reception and there are 3 ski hire shops within 50m. The main slopes a 5 minute walk away and there is also the free bus that passes regularly. The main bars and variety of restaurants are all around you. All in all a fantastic stay, which, without exception, we all enjoyed and wouldn’t hesitate to go back!!…
We had an excellent all round stay at Le Provencal! Fantastic location in the centre of town, very close to the restaurants and bars. Short 5 min walk to Le Diable lift & Jardin express is a few mins further. Alternatively jump on the free shuttle from right outside. The owners were extremely friendly and accommodating and helped in any way that they could. We arrived late due to delays, but the owners got in touch and made arrangements. Rooms are basic, but very clean and spacious and exactly as expected
Hotel Le Provencal is a great base for skiers in L2A. It has a good ski room which can be accessed easily. The owners speak very good English which avoids any confusion in French. The rooms are good and the breakfast is very good too. The owners will do anything to help you stay - we had a 4am departure and they prepared a takeaway breakfast for us. It is only a 5 minute walk to the nearest ski lift and very close to lots of restaurants and bars in town.
It's all about hospitality of hosts, it's outstanding. Hotel's location is perfect as well. In this hotel you have everything you need, for a ski holiday. The place is close to everything. Wifi is fast.
