We’ve just completed our stay at the Hotel Chamois d’or. From the start we were warmly welcomed by the staff who came out to greet us at the car when we arrived. We had a family room where the kids had their own room with en-suite and bunk beds. Our bathroom had a bath. The bedding is sumptuous and we also had a sunny balcony. We stayed half board and the evening five course meal was always stunning! It is a ski out, ski in hotel right at the start of the piste closest to the les Jeux and DMC lifts. Easy to use ski room although the boot warmers weren’t working. Also a gorgeous swimming pool with steam room and sauna. We’ll definitely visit again! Thank you to all the staff :)
We really enjoyed our stay here! Thank you Thibaut, Hip-Hop and the entire team for your warm welcome. We loved the rooms, the decoration and amenities. Great food and service at the restaurant! We will be back :-)
Stayed here for a couple of days during a road trip and it was lovely. Room very comfortable, nice little spa, attentive staff. Breakfast was nice however when food items ran out e.g bacon it was either very very slow to be replenished, or not replenished whilst we were there. This happened while we were halfway through the service. However it didn’t detract enough to mark our stay down overall and we still ate very well. We liked it enough to be considering returning during winter.
A warm and comfortable, very friendly (and dog-friendly), nicely decorated hotel, with very helpful, hardworking and willing staff, most of them multi-lingual. Perfectly situated at the top of the village, quiet, but very near lifts and some bars and restaurants. The room was large enough, very clean and comfortable, with lots of storage space and great views. The bathroom was small (and the separate toilet minuscule)- airless, with no window and not very well lit. Lovely toiletteries and nice thick towels. Nice bar and lovely romantic lounge with low lighting, candles, very comfy leather sofas and armchairs and log fire. Good barman. The restaurant and its cuisine are OK, nothing special. The menu doesn’t change, except the ‘plat du jour’ at lunchtime. Amateurish service. Beautiful glassware everywhere. The breakfast arrangements need some serious re-thinking. The small, always-the-same buffet and, on some days, all the guests are inexplicably crammed into one little corner of a big room (the bar). So there is a lot of squashing between chairs, waiting behind fellow guests, bumping into each other and the staff..... The few hot options always run out before the (strict) deadline of 10am, and take an age to be replenished, if at all. There is certainly very little wastage, which I suppose is a good thing! The breads are wonderful! All in all, lots of plus points and very few negatives. We have very much enjoyed our week here and will certainly not hesitate to recommend the hotel to friends and family.…
We booked this small hotel as the reviews looked amazing and we love small Ski in /Ski out Hotels. The Hotel was impeccable. Breakfast was probably the best Ski Hotel breakfast I have had. Such a lovely choice of breads and beautiful fresh pastries. Lovely breakfast room too. Staff were friendly but so efficient. Spa was also good although we didn't seem to have enough time to use the great facilities. Lovely lounge area with a wonderful open fire. Really cosy. Literally just a minutes walk from the ski slopes. Unfortunately Ibroke my arm skiing on the third day and the hotel did everything they could to get me to the medical centre. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would return if we ever go back to Alpes D'Huez.
