The Chalet Hotel Escapade is a great little hotel on the edge of the piste and close to the old town of Alpe d'Huez. The wellness facilities are particularly good and the outdoor hot tub is not to be missed! Couple that with our friendly Neilson hospitality and you have an exciting holiday ahead.

We spent a brilliant week skiing at the hotel as family of 4. The room was small but fine and clean. The food was amazing evening meals and wine were fantastic and afternoon tea was great. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hot tubs were brilliant after a day on the slopes and the locations great ski in and out!

Just returned from a week at Chalet Escapade with a mixed group of 12. We had an excellent time and are looking to return next year. We love the resort anyway but first time with Neilson. The chalet is in a perfect location - can ski in out with choice of the 'lobster pots' to take you to the DMC ski area or the new Alpe Express cable car to take you to the Bergers ski area. Skiing back is also possible. Another bonus is that it is right opposite our favourite bar, The Underground ! The staff, Fay, Bobby, Charlie, Nick and team were so helpful and friendly, we had 3 birthdays in our group during the week and they brought out birthday cakes with candles, such a lovely touch. The food was excellent and there was always an alternative choice of main course for the children if they are fussy ! The cooked breakfast always came out quickly and nice and hot, really good start to the day. The chalet has an indoor and outdoor hot tub, sauna and steam room which is a nice bonus. The rooms were clean and comfortable and our shower was hot and powerful but the shower like the rooms, small ! But for me on a ski holiday its not about the size or luxuriousness of the rooms. We had rooms overlooking the piste with balcony. We wanted to book dog sledding as a surprise for our twins' birthdays and Fay the Chalet Manager kindly called them and sorted this for us as she can speak fluent French. The kids loved it and was a magical experience. My only small moan is that Neilson use a ski hire shop quite a way from the chalet, uphill walk too when there are closer hire shops ! But overall an excellent week, thank you to all the staff at the Chalet Escapade !

Great hotel, just the right size at about 50 people, so not too big that you never see the same person but not too small that you're forced to talk to the same person. Staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful, very ably led by Bobby the assistant manager. They catered for my vegan needs brilliantly and I always had a course to eat, even the afternoon tea and cake, which was great. The chalet is located right next to the Alpe Bubble car so it's easy to get on the slopes. Lots of green slopes around which is unusual and great for beginners. Lots of blues and reds too. There didn't seem to be that many blacks, but that didn't bother me as I don't ski blacks. Weather was brilliant, hot and sunny all week. This made the lower slopes pretty slushy, but if you went higher and knew which slopes to head for you could get some really good skiing in all day long. Our Neilson hosting expert was a chap called Cookie. We had a private 2 hour lesson with him which was brilliant. Great teacher, and I was buzzing at the end as it really made sense. Many people in the chalet said the same thing. The free hosting sessions run by Neilson are brill. My only criticism is the hosting sessions were all late afternoon which makes it quite a tiring day. I prefer these to be in the morning. Overall I thought the Escapade was brilliant and would definitely recommend it.

Absolutely superb holiday as a mixed group of 16. The hotel is perfectly situated right on the slopes for easy ski in/out access. Its typical Alp design and kept spotlessly clean by the Neilson team. Food was fresh and varied every day thanks to Tommy, bar service was spot on and very entertaining thanks to Nick, huge pat on the back to Bobby who is on hand for anything at any time. Service with a smile every day from Matt and plenty of wine top ups from Charlie. Mountain Expert Cookie was a huge bonus, great guiding and I'd highly recommend the private lessons, well worth the money. A great spot, a well organised and engaged team from Neilson made for a fantastic holiday.
