We were meant to stay here during Tomorrowland Winter 2020 which was cancelled due to Coronavirus. We were still offered to spend a winter holiday in ADH which then was cancelled too after one night due to governmental restrictions. Le Castillan is a lovely family-run hotel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel had to close entirely after just one night they offered a great breakfast with loads of choices, good coffee (not actually something you find often in french hotels) and some delicious Croissants. The room was of a decent size for a french hotel and very clean. However, as we did get a non-refurbished room it definitely was a bit dated. Also there was a strong smell like someone had poured an entire bottle of some cleanser on to the floor. We had to sleep with open windows but the heating was very good. ;-) The bed was comfortable but the hotel doesn´t provide duvets. Hence the bedding wasn´t quite our cup of tea. Also the soundproofing is not existend so be prepared to hear every single word from the room nextdoor. The bathroom was very clean too. We had a corner room with a window above the bath tub which was a bit bothering as the shower curtain was very small. So you you set the entire bathroom under water or don´t do any good to the wooden window frame. Thus some bigger shower curtains would definitely be a plus. Same goes with the towels which were a bit thin and small too. But of course the room comes with a plus too. The view from the large balcony is amazing as is the large TV which let´s you plug in your own device or SD Card so you can watch your own movies if you don´t understand what´s on french TV. There was also a comfy armchair. After all I can´t tell if I´d stay here again, mostly because I didn´t like the bedding and the room definitely needed refurbishment (there are refurbished rooms though). But if you are looking for a hotel with the most lovely and warmhearted staff and some delicious food this is your play to stay. One could feel that the owner-family cares about their guests. On top the location is perfect. Bars and pubs are just around the corner and it´s just a short walk to the shops. There is also a chairlift just 50 meters from the hotel which takes you up to Signal. The Télécentre is also only a short walk away and takes you to the other part of the area.

Hotel's Favorite
Just stayed at Le Castillan this week. Only a 3* but great VFM. Rooms are basic but perfectly adequate and nice and clean. Maybe a little tired but remember it’s a 3*. Family owned and run. Staff are very friendly and engaging and all with decent English but will gladly play along as u practice your Franglais! Nice bar and lounge with fire each evening. Breakfast very good. Usual boiled eggs etc but really nice. Great coffee. Lots of fresh fruit. We were half board and evening meals were excellent. Even the vegetarian evening was tasty and filling. Great cheese board every night. Boot and ski room is right at the front of the hotel with your own secure locker and heated boot rails. Ski out is 50 metres down from the hotel and ski back in is about 150 metres either side. Everyone who we made really enjoyed their stay and we wud all come back. Excellent wee local hotel.

Location: great location for the slopes as it's ski out but not really ski in. Parking:there are spaces outside the hotel but it is a first come basis. The hotel reception is not on the ground floor and there is no lift so make sure you've had your spinach to carry your cases upstairs. Unfortunately the staff did not offer to assist. We had breakfast included and the choices are very good! They even provide non-dairy milk options. The room was a reasonable size with balcony overlooking the front and the views are AMAZING. There was a small safe and hairdryer provided. Ski room: there are lockers and benches provided. However, do not use the services of the ski shop adjoined to the hotel as it's the worst wax I've ever seen! We had to scrape it off and buy some wax and do it ourselves. I would recommend staying here and would probably stay here again in the future.

The good points: good food in well spaced dining room, good location, CHARMING staff, comfortable beds and pillows, quite good spa. No loud boring lads on tour. The minor faults: single rooms are quite small (but adequate). Soundproofing between rooms not great. Bar is dead possibly because it is a bit expensive. Crying children. But a good all round hotel.

the hotel is a family run hotel, so there is lot's of personal care and support from the staff; Julien and Stephanie are amazing! there is a main dining room for breakfast and dinner; and a lounge area with fireplace and board games for hanging out or grabbing drinks at the bar; spa and locker room inside the hotel; around the corner from the hotel is a ski/snowboard rental for extra added convenience
