Arrived just before 2:00pm. Room not ready (fair enough), but reception immediately gave out payment card (hotel is cashless) enabling us to get lunch and drinks on arrival - full marks for this. Location. Mid way between altiport and Les Bergers commercial centre and about 10-15 minutes walk to from Alpe d’Huez center (or you could take the free Altipot shuttle bus which circles the resort and has a stop right outside the hotel). Under normal conditions you could ski from the door to the Marmotte 1, Alpauris, Rif Nel or Les Romains lifts, however for our stay in April the snow had retreated and it was a 1 minute walk. Also a minute to walk back at the end of the day (not sure if it would be possible to ski completely back, even in perfect conditions). Room We had a twin room. Fairly small (two beds, two bedside tables, no other furniture), separate bathroom (half size bath), separate WC. Decent amount of space in built in wardrobe. A couple of useful shelves, TV and a safe. Good level of lighting in the room. Ski Locker / Equipment You are given a padlock at check in which enables you to lock skis into an allocated rack. You also get an allocated space on the boot dryer - this seems to be constantly turned on. There is an in-house SkiSet rental shop, however when pre booking, even with a discount voucher, this seemed pretty expensive and we opted to hire from the Les Bergers commercial center where all the franchises have at least one shop (two minutes from hotel, three minutes back carrying equipment). Food All meals are help yourself buffets. There are always at least 3 mains, and at lunch and dinner there’s always a very large salads selection. Good choice of desserts. In addition to above, there is always a selection of pizzas, pasta and ice creams available. During all mealtimes a good supply of fresh fruit is available. Wine is on tap during dinner. A few minor quibbles : sometimes the choice of veg accompaniments were limited, and coffee and tea are only available at breakfast (available from the bar at other times). On return from slopes (about 4:30pm onwards) there is a (free) snack - waffles, pancakes, cake etc. Changes daily. All inclusive We travelled on an all inclusive package with Crystal Ski. I’ll add a couple of comments regarding lunch arrangements (as this is the first ski holiday we’ve taken with lunch included). ⁃ obviously you have to return to the hotel. That said, you can easily ski to the furthest points on the map, have a pootle about and still return in plenty of time for lunch. ⁃ The hotel is ski boot free, so there is the faff of changing in/out of your boots, however this is not a huge problem as it is on the way past. ⁃ The help yourself buffet means that there’s no waiting for orders to be taken, food to arrive, bill to arrive, etc - so lunch can be as short or long as you like. Overall this is a decent hotel. The staff are unfailingly friendly. Recommended.

Hello flodge01, Our service provides for the keys to be handed over by 18:00. It is therefore normal that it was not ready when you arrived at 14:00. However, we offer an early check-in option that allows you to anticipate your arrival at 11:00 am. By pre-purchasing your ski equipment, you benefit from a 30 to 50% discount depending on the week. Regarding your remark about lunch. If you do not wish to return to the hotel but enjoy a day of skiing, simply ask for a picnic basket. In which case, you can freely compose your lunch to take away. Day 1 - Sat 23/3/19 Arrived midday today we couldn’t get into the room until 6pm maybe 4pm they said, luggage had to be left in an unsecured dining area near reception? But they do have CCTV you’ll be pleased to read 😂 Rooms are small no balconies, even for France 🇫🇷 they’re compact and bijue, but they are at least clean, with a nice picture on the wall. Beds are small but comfy. Ver cosy, I could lean over and cuddle my room mate, not sure he’d appreciate it though! Bathroom tiny and bath is a large tub not a bath, you won’t be lying in it unless you’re two feet tall! Evening meal was a Butlins / Centre Parks grab a table and a queue for your buffet style food in the canteen. Food okay but mass produced. However wine was included! Day 2 - we’ve just had breakfast, in the cafeteria, no table service at all not even for tea or coffee, oh except to whip away your plates, it’s grab a table in the mornings too! So unless you’re on a boot camp style holiday and want to get up at 7am for breakfast each day you’ll be queueing a lot ! Food runs out, as do the coffee cups and mugs. I asked for a mug to be told “they’re in the machine being washed” at 08:50 am. Also I only two coffee machines with long queues too... So after an unsuccessful and disappointing start in what I can only describe Les Bergers as a utility ‘head down’ Etap style hotel and canteen for dining with no character or atmosphere but loads of people, it’s off to the boot room and piste... I’ll report back later in the week as to my end of trip experiences... to be continued !!!

My son, two grandchildren aged 12 and 6 and myself stayed here for a week-long skiing holiday. The hotel was a great base for the holiday. The staff were unfailingly friendly, kind and helpful and the quality and variety of the food was outstanding. The location of the hotel is fantastic, with easy access to all the main ski lifts. It took my granddaughter just five minutes to ski along to ski school each morning. Special thanks to Pavel in the dining room who found us a meal on our first evening when the coach from the airport arrived late, we were very hungry and the dining room was closed. After that every meal was very enjoyable with a great range of food including some really gourmet dishes. Please pass on our appreciation to the chefs. We very much appreciated the entertainments laid on for our enjoyment. The children loved the goodies provided every day at 4.30 - pancakes one day, waffles another, candy floss another. We also enjoyed playing pool and watching the shows in the evenings. Our rooms were quite small and basic but perfectly adequate with a shower/bath. It would have been nice to have a chair to sit on rather than just the beds. It would also have been nice to have some sort of quiet lounge where we could have sat and chatted in the evenings - the bar was so noisy and there was really nowhere else to sit except the entrance lobby. However, all in all we had a wonderful holiday and the hotel played an important part in making it so good. Thank you to all the staff.

Stayed for a week as part of a Crystal Ski holiday. If you're looking for small and cosy, then this isn't it. It's quite big and rather functional. The place is actually a holiday club building, popular with French families and groups. It looks like a hotel and quacks like a hotel so I suppose it's a hotel. As others say, the bedroom was quite small and basic with no balcony - if you've stayed in a French ski apartment, you'll be familiar with the style and quality. We had 3 beds, which was actually quite handy as we could put our cases on the third bed. We were given a second key, no problem! We were given a payment card to use in the bar, then you pay it all at the end of the week - this worked quite well. There was a sunny terrace for a vin chaud at the end of the day (half the price of the mountain bars) The food was buffet style at breakfast and dinner, which meant at busy times it was a bit of a scrum to get food and potentially difficult to get a table. The food was pretty good, plentiful with a wide choice. If you are veggie you'd be quite satisfied I think. The staff were generally friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, especially the 'animateurs' who put on a show in the evenings. There is quite a good ski room, with boot warming and there's a Skiset rental shop actually on site. From the door, you can ski down a short distance to the Marmottes 1 or the AlpAuris lifts. Coming back with good snow, you can get to within about 50 metres of the door by following the signs to Club Med. Alpe D'Huez has a good ski area for all abilities. Overall, we had a great week of good snow and blue skies, which always helps! The hotel grew on me during the week and I would definitely stay here again.

I had high expectations and got big disappointment! We took a room for 2 and got 3 beds. The room was so small that I couldn't open my suitcase. we asked them to take 1 bad out and they said they cant. The shower and toilet were so small and old!!! We got 1 small bottle of shampoo and soup for 2 persons for 1 week! We asked for more and didn't get. We asked for 2 keys and didn't get. The elevator is so slow!!! nightmare. The place look old and smells like my grandfather!

Hello Yoav K, We are sorry if your stay did not fit your expectations and we would like to apologize. We are amazed at your return even though the rooms are not very large they were renovated 2 years ago and are therefore not old. We offer our clients the shampoo and the shower gel on demand. And if you have to wait for the elevator, guests will take their meals and go to ski at the same hours that explains the wait for the elevators. Marie Quality Service
