Stayed in Saintes due to ferry cancellation, so made emergency booking which was the best decision of our holiday. Venue excellent with beautiful gardens and patio area to chill out on to, as well as fun designed rooms. Restaurant.. wow wow wow. Couldn’t fault it. The dishes were beautifully presented with a definite artistic flair excelling all taste buds possible. The food was served by friendly English speaking staff who explained each dish. A well deserved Michelin rated restaurant.

A last minute Brittany Ferries Spanish sailing cancellation forced us to drive through western France, so this stopover (in one of BF's partner hotels) was a lucky, unexpected find. Very good food, with a kitchen that is trying hard for awards but with service which stops (just) short of being pretentious, extensive grounds, lakes and wildlife and an excellent indoor pool. We were pleased that we opted for short driving days and that after a 4 to 5 hour, 250m thrash from Caen, we arrived early enough to enjoy the facilities, albeit sadly, not in time for lunch. Welcoming staff and pleasingly eccentric interior design; model cars, engines and a real original hotel boot room dot the common areas. Some rooms are themed; ours, "Jaipur" was comfortably redolent of the Raj, but our friend's "Charantaise" was less traditional shepherdess than Marie Antoinette on speed! Well worth a visit, and great value if booked as part of a Brittany Ferries holiday and ferry package

Everything apart from the rooms are 5 star in this superb hotel. While driving home from northern Spain to Calais we chanced upon this hotel and restaurant just a few minutes off the A10 motorway at Saintes in western France. Leaving the hotel aside for the moment, the star of this place is undoubtedly the restaurant. The hotel reception proudly displayed a copy of a regional food magazine which contained a large feature article about the chef and restaurant. Although the restaurant doesn't have a Michelin star it easily deserves one for the quality, imagination and presentation of its dishes. These were remarkable for their sometime unusual combination of flavours. It was also excellent value for money. The service was relaxed and far from the overbearing formality that can be found on occasions in more upmarket establishments. We have eaten in many French restaurants over the years and would place the meal we had amongst the best ever when considering the relatively modest price. As for the hotel, we received a warm welcome and conveniently the staff spoke good English. The public rooms are comfortable and the decor of these and the one bedroom we saw could be said to be rather eccentric. Whatever your views are about this do not let them divert you from the delight of its culinary experience. This place should be a destination in itself rather than somewhere to stay when en route elsewhere.

Staying here was a delight. Everything is either very good or excellent. The bedrooms, the decor of the hotel and best of all, the stunning restaurant. They also have charging stations for electric powered vehicles. I have no negatives.

An exceptional experience from arrival to departure. Unfortunately only for one evening but we will certainly revisit soon. Friendly communicative staff creating a relaxed atmosphere, beautiful setting, and possibly the best restaurant experience we have had in some time.
