A nice family hotel close to the town centre in this wonderful resort. The room was a bit cramped and dated but everything was spotless and clean. Service from the staff was attentive and good. WiFi and internet was very poor in the room but much better downstairs in the main lounge. Breakfasts were good and we had dinner one night which was also excellent. Good car parking as well.
This was our first visit to Hotel Bois Joli, and indeed the town, staying here overnight before catching the ferry the next day. The town itself, which is very attractive, developed as a spa town in the late 19th century, and the hotel building must have been one of those built at the time to accommodate the increasing number of tourists. The hotel looks put over a park in the town, and there is ample off road parking in the grounds / garden. We received a very warm welcome, and our room was very clean and comfortable, although some of the communal areas, notably the stairs and landing, looked a little tired. We enjoyed an excellent dinner in the hotel, and breakfast the next morning was probably one of the best, if not the best, we have had in France. We shall definitely use this hotel again when returning home from France.…
This is a beautiful building in a beautiful town. There were seven of us having a meal and the staff were amazing and very attentive. The food and wine was exceptional. I would definitely go there again.
This a a comfortable hotel. A bit old fashioned in the positive sense of the word. Kind and helpful staff. The restaurant is very good at an affordable price for menu’s and wines. Nice garden to relax in.
My wife and I and a friend had a superb meal tonight in this restaurant. The ambiance of the house and immaculate gardens was matched by the attentiveness of the staff once inside. An unhurried aperitif whilst we consulted the menu was followed by a glorious meal. An amuse bouche of cockles in sauce, then starters of foie gras and langoustine. Our main courses of steak, pigeon and veal, then a comprehensive cheese platter, followed by desserts to die for: perfect souffles and a chocolate paradise. All wonderfully prepared and presented. Our compliments to the chef. Superb wines, a Pomerol and a Sauternes, complimented their courses in splendid fashion, followed by the obligatory digestifs (Calvados - well, we are in Normandie) in the lounge. A truly enjoyable meal, the best we have had since moving up from Toulouse a year ago. The only puzzle is why more people don’t know about the place. A real gem that we will return to with pleasure.…
Bois Joli is a lovely place to go for a celebration meal. Lovely setting in Bagnoles , a stunning place to spend a day or weekend, very picturesque . You can stroll around the lake , visit the shops and enjoy a fab meal at The Bois Joli.
a wonderful place to stay ,the rooms are a little tired but typically French and the food and service were to die for ,super service and wonderfully presented by two young experts, great,. The Christmas decorations were inspired and suited the ambience
we took 10 classic cars on a tour based at this hotel and couldn't fault it. The rooms were comfortable and clean the food was very good. We were given home made Cheese straws with our drinks which were delicious and Petit fours with coffee a really nice touch. Thoroughly recommended.
Traditional, family run, welcoming and quiet, this hotel is perfectly located in the charming town of Bagnoles, a moment's stroll from the lake and woodland walks. The chef is exemplary and each time we stayed here we noticed local residents dining here because the food is so good. The rooms are large, airy, with top quality beds and antique furnishings. The modern ensuite bathrooms are clean and perfectly nice. Try their house aperatif with delicious Benedictine, apple juice, basil and cider. Exquisite and served with freshly made amuse bouches from the kitchen. The menu changes with the seasons and all of it is tempting and French cooking at its best
We stayed here on a 3 day Brittany ferries offer. We loved the overnight boat from Portsmouth to St Malo. We went to the onboard cinema and ate at the fine dining onboard restaurant. We slept soundly until waking up for breakfast in St Malo and drove off the boat. The Hotel is about 2-3 hrs drive and easy to find. We stayed in Room 7 which had a lovely balcony. The loo was separate from the very small bathroom, and there was no bath - but were both ensuite. It was quiet and very clean. The food at dinner was amazing - just excellent French cuisine, beautifully coked and presented. Amazingly good wine list too.The owner speaks good English which was helpful for us. The staff have no English at all but are so lovely and as helpful as possible. The wifi is very slow and almost useless really - so don't take your iPad, OK ! We had a cycle ride along the disused railway well rail at the back of the hotel. It's normally shut in December, but the hotel got him to open up just for us! It's that dirt of town. It feels a bit Swiss or Austrian? Like a French style Harrogate. We walked round the pretty lake in the town centre and thought the magnificent park with nice views and wooded forests. We would have liked tea and coffee in the room, but lots of French hotels font do this. This was a perfect hotel for a break. We would love to go back again, perhaps for a summer trip next time.…
