My wife and I have stayed here annually for most of the last forty years. It has been in the same family the entire time, now run by the second generation. The welcome is always warm, the rooms are clean and the view both over the bay and of the street below on the town side

The greatest difficulty we had to staying at Mount St Michele is Parking lot 3. We do not speak French and it was difficult to find the bottom to contact the hotel for passage through the gate. Once we figured it out the rest of our visit was perfect. Louis the Manager at the

You will have to put your luggage on and off a shuttle and then walk from the shuttle stop up a narrow cobblestone street, up stairs into the hotel and potentially up more stairs to your room. That being said, we found staying on the island magical. we got to see the tide come in twice - once in the evening and again early the next morning. The island is very quiet and peaceful at night because so few people stay there. To get a view you simply walk down to the causeway and see the island lit up. I highly recommend staying on-island.

It is between 1/2 and 1/3 of a mile. About 1/2 of the walk is steep. Remember any tour of Mont Saint Michel is going to require steep walking, but it is well worth it

The half board is a continental breakfast. It was perfectly fine for us, but a full breakfast is available if you're really hungry!

Once you arrive at the final place where the bus stops you will need to walk a ways to where you get the electric bus that takes you almost there, then you walk.
