Isabelle is the best host one can ask for. Her home is a work of art with special attention to details. I loved staying here and made feel ever so welcome. If you come here, you'll see it's a little haven. Beautiful garden to relax in and explore. She made me french toast and spread a table of her home made delights for breakfast. Everything was yummy the bread, cheeses, confitures, juice, home made yogurt etc. Outstanding value. At check out, I waited to be picked up in the garden and enjoyed the sound of birds, admired the beautiful flowers, trees and garden. I'm not ready to leave I just want to stay here a little bit longer.
We came to Roubaix to see the musée La Piscine and also went to the Villa Cavrois. The Maison du Sart is situated on one of the side roads parallel to the main Avenue de Flandre. The side road only has limited access points across the tram track and is one way towards Roubaix. Our comfortable room, l'Escaut, was on the second floor up two steep flights of sixteen stairs. The room was furnished with a selection of odd modern and old furniture. There was a communal kettle (and microwave) on the landing; no cups only small bowls. The soap dispenser in the shower did not work. No cooked breakfast was offered apart from pain perdu. There was bread, toasted faluche, cake, homemade jams, etc. orange juice, yoghurt, one goat cheese, but no croissants.
My husband & I have just returned from a short break in Lille to experience the start of the Christmas Market in Lille centre. We wanted to find somewhere to stay that was close to the centre with easy access to & from the Christmas market, shops, bars & restaurants without breaking the bank to pay for our accommodation & car parking. La Maison du Sart satisfied all our needs..... an easy tram ride into the centre, free secure parking for our car & best of all, a lovely Chambre d'hôte run by the very kind & welcoming Isabelle. We stayed in the beautifully decorated Arabesque double room & after a good night’s sleep in one of the most comfortable beds we have slept in, we were treated to Isabelle’s delicious breakfast of homemade breads, cakes & jams, all included in the very reasonable room rate. Look no further than La Maison du Sart for a warm welcome, lovely breakfast & accommodation within easy access of Lille..... it ticks all the boxes. Thank you, Isabelle, for making our short stay in Lille extra special..... les Gallois vont revenir!! …
