I first stayed here in April 2019. The hotel was being refurbished then and I thought that it would have been completed by August. The air conditioning was still not operational, which was unfortunate as it was very hot. Dog friendly. Secure parking at a modest cost. Good food both at dinner and breakfast. The bar is not always staffed. There is no bell to call staff and so I had to wait about 10 minutes for a drink. City centre location, next to the railway station, but no train noise as hotel double glazed.

There is not much wrong with this hotel which sensible management couldn't sort out. This was our second visit and as before, we came away thinking that "corners are cut" to help profits presumably . Obviously we expect hotels to be profitable but sometimes at a certain level, some luxuries are to be expected. Quite simply you won't get them here. Service is at the level of an IBIS (with respect to the budget brand as it's better value). For example, this was the only hotel of the 3 Mercures, 1 Sofitel, 1 Novotel and 1 Ibis which we have stayed in during recent weeks which failed to even leave us a Welcome Note. As Platinium members, one expects something - maybe just an extra bottle of water. Most hotels can offer a room upgrade or at least a coffee machine. Here nothing, not even a note of welcome. And don't expect a bowl of nuts with your aperitif either! Also this is the second year where the TV has had a "technical glitch" in that no non-terrestial French channels can be received. Really? Two years' back-to-back or did you just forget to pay the bill for the extra TV services again? The saving grace was the restaurant were on the ball - it looked like extra staff had been roped in as the hotel had a large group to cater for. The staff were a bit clueless but under the circumstances, at least a reasonable service was provided at a busy time. Breakfast was equally chaotic but most things were available. On balance, we'll probably try and find an alternative next year.

We stayed here on our way back from Burgundy and driving to the tunnel We have used Mercure before in Troyes and find them very reliable and convenient The location is good and underground parking a great help with a car loaded with wine. Our room was well equipped and comfortable. Arras is a lovely place and the hotel a stones throw from the Grand Place. We chose to have breakfast which was very good lots of choices including hot food

location fine; decor brilliant, attitude of staff good BUT the room awful. Refurb directly above the room heavy duty drilling and no mention at book in about the disturbance. On enquiry this was from 9am to 5pm everyday and will go on for some weeks. This was dishonest of hotel management. A notice in obne of the lifts stated it was all really good news...... NOT SO. We obtained a change of room after complaining - so why block the renting of that bad room (no 201) to start with. So much for being an ACCOR silver points holder.

This hotel rates as one of the best in Arras which was our reason to book. It's easy walking distance to the old town squares and directly above a large car park. Equally the train station is a short walk away. Checkin was a pleasant experience and one of the friendliest on our trip. This seemed to be the case with all the staff we interacted with in the hotel. The rooms are nicely laid out modern and fresh with a good rain head shower. No fridges in the room which is a bit of a down. We ate out in the centre of Arras and was back in time for a night cap at the bar. They have a free table-football game in the bar which was great fun. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold food. Fresh bread and croissants and selection of cold meats and cheese. If you have to visit Arras I would recommend this hotel. However Arras itself is not worth a specific visit. There are other French towns with more to offer.
