OK, you don't expect 5 star quality in a budget hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast room clean and pleasant, the coffee just about OK. The situation is convenient and easily located. But our room was nasty! It was worn and grimy - we didn't want to go barefoot or look at the carpet closely. Worst aspect was it reeked of stale tobacco despite there supposedly being no smoking. Terrible! Returning after a busy day out, the smell on entering the room hit us. Three days later at home, some of our clothes going in the wash still smelled of stale tobacco. Immediately before, we'd stayed in a slightly cheaper but genuinely excellent value Ibis Budget, far bettr than this place. More
