This is one of the best places to eat in the region. Ingredients are carefully sourced locally, beautifully presented, and skilfully cooked. Attractive dining room with original oak beams and fireplace. Prices for France are mid-range and fully justified for what you get on your plate. I had smoked salmon with a chive cream, followed by an immaculate rack of...

All of the reviews seem to mention that the food Is expensive. The fact is that a meal was 33 euros for 3 courses and wine started at around 24 euros, it's not cheap but the food was truly exceptional and well worth the money. This restaurant was a cut above anywhere else we ate and the price reflected the...

Hotel Manoir Des Portes is a bit like the Curate's egg - good in parts! Situated a few miles out of Lamballe by a small shallow lake (unsuitable for swimming, I was told) it is a quiet secluded old farmhouse turned into a twenty something room hotel. We stayed two nights as a part of a cycling holiday organised by...

This hotel is a good value, near Lamballe in the village of La Poterie. We had Chambre 23, a large room two flights up with windows on the garden and a balcony with two chairs. It’s in a Renaissance manor with an elegant stone portal on the garden side. In the two nights we were there, most of the guests...

We booked this hotel through the Brittany Ferries website. The site says that it is 2k outside Lamballe. Unfortunately it is more like 5k. It is a pretty hotel by a lake. Reception was very good. The room appeared a bit dated and could do with redecorating. However, the bed was very comfortable. The shower was excellent. It was big...

There was a lot to like about this hotel. The staff were very friendly and good humoured. The terrace was delightful in the evening to sit and enjoy a glass of beer and bubbly. The highlight without a doubt was the evening meal which was delicious and of a very high quality - a gourmet experience. The (standard) room we...

We visited this property whilst on a cycle tour of Brittany. We narrowed down our selection back in January purely because it was in the countryside. We were thankful we'd made that choice. This hotel and restaurant are tucked away up a cul de sac beside a lake. The hotel offers comfortable, character rooms at a reasonable rate. We had...

We stayed here for a week. The rooms in the old part of the building have thick walls , and windows are orientated to catch the very last rays of the evening sun, a reminder that they were built long before the days of electric light. The peaceful garden is a pleasant place to sit , surrounded by the sounds...

Like Julie S, we stayed at this hotel on the first and last nights of a Headwater (cycling) holiday. The first room was small and the bathroom not particularly well-planned: the second room was bigger but it had 2 single beds pushed together which made the area by the window with the sloping ceiling very narrow. My husband bashed his...
