There is nothing special about this hotel other than that certain run down French charm (although I think we are quickly getting over that). Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel for the great views. Room was pretty shabby. PS There is an electric control for the blind on the wall by the bed. Not manual!

We stayed here for just 1 night on our journey back from Spain. The hotel is in on of the main squares and there was a car park right next to it, we had booked safe parking for our motor bike, there was a place to park up in this car park, went into reception and booked in said that we... More

We arrived about 7pm in the evening and the square was very busy as there was a fete happening, we were so glad we had pre-booked the off road parking. We parked outside and I went in to reception and was greeted by Le Patron who even though I spoke to her in French insisted on trying her English out,... More

We were attracted to the hotel's restaurant by the views from the dining room and the menu promising regional dishes. The waitresses paid us little attention compared to the French party at the next table. When we asked for a pichet of wine we were served two small bottles. We pointed at the pichets of wine on the next table... More

The location at the top of a cliff face with views overlooking the village and beyond was spectacular. The area around the hotel was also interesting for its history, historic buildings, birdlife (we looked out to see an eagle flying closeby, slightly below us) and views.

While touring in France we visited St. Flour and decided to stay awhile. The Grand is an imposing building and we were surprised at the modest rates so took a room. We were shown to a pleasant, clean room, with a clean en-suite bathroom. As we wished to see more of the Auvergne we stayed for a second night. The... More

Travelling south through the Auvergne we decided to stop for a night in St Flour and found this hotel in the Logis book. Usually reliable I feel that Logis let us down with this hotel and the town which should have been attractive, located as it was atop a high cliff, was drab and boring from what we saw of... More

OK, we know, the hotel is neither stylish nor is it new and refurbished, but it has what it takes for a trip to Saint Flour: it is in the heart of the old town. We quite enjoyed that, having the opportunity for a gentle stroll in the evening. Rooms acceptable for the price, easy parking out front, nice view... More

In many years of travelling in France we have never met with such hostility as in this hotel. After staying there on Nov 30th we inadvertently left a medical supply bag behind in room 204. The next day I phoned and agreed to collect the bag on our return Dec 13th.We went to reception on that day and asked for... More

Having broken down en route to Spain on hols we needed a hotel for just one night to rest our weary heads. We weren't looking for the best hotel of our lives just somewhere comfortable, friendly and welcoming which is so not what is on offer here. We were given the key to room 109, walked up the very scruffy... More
