Stay here was practical as it was an easy walk to the old town and the market. Standard room was clean and the breakfast buffet was good. Nothing to shout about....but most of the time is spent out and about.

The Hotel Montaigne staff are exceptionally friendly and speak excellent English. Their breakfast spread is one of the best I've encountered in France. Our room was spotless and a good size by European standards. Best of all, the hotel is nicely situated within easy walking distance of the downtown with easy access to the outstanding Saturday market.

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The location is ideal, about a block away from the old town area. Our room was a bit larger than the European average, and although not fancy, was clean and comfortable. We had a room on the premier étage that over looked the parking lot in front. The wi-fi was a bit spotty... More

The owners of this hotel should not be in the customer service industry! They are so grouchy and unfriendly I cannot believe how they have any business! They lectured me in front of other guests when I was at the front desk. They told me I was not supposed to rinse out my clothes in the sink and hang them... More

Reserved for early October, and we expected a 3:00 check in, but arrived at 12:30 or so and they happily stored our bags in a secure room and promised room ready at 2:00😀. Also, when no taxis were at the train station , and all posted drivers claimed "too busy", I called hotel and she had us a taxi in... More

Wanted a hotel central to Sarlat where we could park up and explore the town. Good location with free parking in side street. Easy walk, approx 2 mins, into old town and historic part of town. Could not be better placed. Hotel is a little old but rooms clean and tidy. Air con was worth having. Breakfast basic but good.... More

We did not enjoy our stay. Our room was small-barely enough room to walk around the bed. I really hated the very small toilet closet. It was dimly lit and the toilet seat kept falling on your butt or banging down. The door opened inward and you had to slide up against the toilet to use it. We were left... More

It seems you have a problem with your bottom : I never told you to use one sheet at a time.... About electricity, our rooms are equiped with energy savers, you just have to think about charging your devices at night when you're in ! Best Regards Jean MARTINAT, Owner More

We were delighted to transfer to this hotel after the one we booked gave us a room the size of a cupboard!! At the Montaigne we had a lovely first floor room on the corner with 2 large windows. The room was a good size and we didn't even need to use the Air Con in 29 degree heat due... More

Great location this place being in the heart of the lovely Mediavel Sarlat, easily accessible with plenty of parking available. The rooms are clean and tidy, large comfy beds and breakfast continental for an optional extra.

It is very warm at the moment and the air conditioning in the hotel gives welcome respite from the heat. It is clean, centrally located to vieux Sarlat, and there is free wifi. We could not ask for more. We are a group of friends and needed rooms with twin beds. No problem at Hotel Montaigne.
