This hotel is a bit old but very rustic and charming and located in the mountains near Barr. Good parking facilities and Ok breakfast. The Restaurant was unfortunately close both Sunday and Monday, so that was a disappointment.

Most of the overall rating is based on the restaurant. I had read about the wine list at the restaurant and had planned to go to the restaurant for that reason alone. Later, we decided to stay here and it made a lot of sense because we didn't have to drive after dinner. The wine list is a giant book... More

We went to eat here with my brother and sister in law. I had soupe de poisson and shared the two p[erson venison with my brother - absolutely great. Rick had soup and carp goujons - the waiter called it "Alsatian fish and chips"!.Lesley had scallops and monkfish and said it was excellent. The wine list is the biggest I... More

Clean and well located, very good restaurant for dinner, though a bit conservative. Not cheap, but htey aspire to be elegant and the food is good. We enjoyed the calm and nature, free parking. Staff is nice and discreet, good calue for money. Breakfast is OK - more than a typical French bfast.

I’m not sure how Hotel-Restaurant Chateau d’Andlau has ended up rated on TripAdvisor as the number one hotel in Barr. It’s a typical two-star hotel: adequate but not luxurious by any means. Décor is stale, carpets worn in places, and it was an unpleasant surprise to discover that the room did not have a shower. The tub had a sprayer,... More

This hotel lies in nature surroundings. A lot of trees makes the place a bit dark and mysterious. Good parking and friendly staff. Restaurant is closed sunday evening. Service was fine. Our room was a bit dark (maybe because it was raining the 2 days we were there). The internet worked on and off. Not a very stabile line. Breakfast... More

Good Two-star hotel. I agree with the previous reviewer. Could use some updating but the price is very reasonable. Great location if you want to explore the nearby mountains and wineries in a very peaceful setting. Highly recommended. Make sure you eat at least once in their fine restaurant too.

This is only a two star hotel, so can't be judged as anything more. It is out of town, up a road leading into the hills, so it is shaded by many trees. Shame as we were hoping for some sun! Hence the patio area was chilly. However that is what it is. Our room was large and we had... More

We chose this hotel out of the Logis guide. It is shown as a Logis Silence and we chose it because we needed a good night's sleep following a long hop from Calais and an ever further journey south the next day. The hotel is built in a traditional Alsatian style and ideal for an overnight stop. There isn't anything... More

We decided to stop over in Barr based on Rough Guide comments, and the positive tripadvisor reports decided us on Chateau D'Andlau. Well done tripadvisor but poor marks Rough Guide! We opted to find a restaurant in Barr so only had breakfast in the hotel, but we can happily endorse other reviewers' comments on the quality and character of the... More
