Nestled in a breathtaking location, the Melheim Resort And Spa offers scenic surroundings and spacious rooms with private balconies that earn rave reviews. While opinions on value vary, many guests find the resort to be a serene paradise. Amenities like the stunning views are generally praised, though a modest pool and occasional spotty reception are noted.
Cleanliness is a strong suit, with comfortable accommodations highlighted by travelers. The service is frequently lauded for the staff's warm hospitality, even as some suggest there's room for improvement. However, be mindful of potential noise issues that some travelers have mentioned.

We went there as a group of 12 including my grandfather and one year old kid. After arrival the staff was kind enough to re arrange a room near the entrace as my grandfather is unable to climb down the stairs. There are about 20 rooms in this resort and all have a magnificient view and if the skies are clear you can see upto southern coastline. The garden is beautifully landscaped too. The resort has their own vegetable farm and a forest land with a view point and a warerfall. If you are a bird lover, you can have a walk in the early morning and see different birds (about 60 as the guide told us). We went on the nature trail and it took about 2 hours to go to the viewpoint and the waterfall. You can have a bath as well. On request they are ready to arrange BBQ nights at the viewpoint.
Reagarding the accomadation, the rooms are spacious and spotless clean and have a ceiling fan (No A/C as this area is usually cold throughout the year). All rooms have a wonderful view.
Food is also good but the buffet needs some improvement with the spread. We orderd some from the a la carte manu as well and the porion size and taste was good.
Have to specially mention about the friendliness of the staff and I can say its the best I have experienced.

I could not fault this resort. It has been sympathetically built onto a beautiful hillside. It is cool enough not to need air conditioning and a simple ceiling fan was more than enough to make us comfortable. The room overlooks a wooded hillside that was lovely to walk through. The food was outstanding. We didn't have a buffet because of the small number staying but chose from an extensive set menu. Excellent french wine was available by the glass. We asked for egg hoppers for breakfast and they were produced very quickly and were perfectly cooked. We would loved to have stayed longer.

This is a very well built resort in a unique location in mountains which gives you a stunning view the southern part of Sri Lanka.
Rooms are comfortable and spacious with necessary amenities.
Staff is helpful and friendly.
Health & Safety at the restaurant could be improved as few staff members were spotted without face-masks.
Compared to the price we pay, the quality and the varieties of food offered could be improved.

We have stayed in this hotel before and used to be really good. When we visited this January, the service was disappointing. We booked for two days as we really wanted to enjoy the great views and relax. We were given one of the rooms with a worse view, we asked whether they can change it to another room with a better view. The manager refused to give us another room saying two rooms with great views were taken by two head office people who were visiting the resort for work related matters. We were surprised as they had given priority to in-house people not the guests.
Our phone wasn’t working, so we requested the staff to have a look, but no one came to check the phone and we had to call the hotel number using our mobile phones every time we needed to ask something from the reception.
As we have two young children we requested breakfast to be sent to our room one day. We were waiting for an hour and the room service person said the message wasn’t passed from the reception to the kitchen.
Overall, we felt that the price paid and distance traveled to get there weren’t worth.

This is my second visit of this hotel. We arrived 28th of may 2020 . After long curfew period that hotel was opened.
Manager welcomed us. Hotel atmosphere is very good.well maintained garden and overlooking hillside views. Room is very clean and have good panoramic viwe. After arriving the room I have going to wash room.but, unfortunately poor water supply in the wash room. After few seconds water completely stop. After I have informed that to manager. They take 30 min time for settled that issue. As a medical reasons we take our meals only from room service menus. They supply food to our room.but it’s like normal Chinese restaurant meals. Therefore I ask additional meal items.but they always saying extra charge for its. They never given drinking water for our meals.we used free 3 small water bottles. We ask another water bottle . But masher says additional charges for it. Hotel swimming pool room is not clean. Some dust in the water
We have full board 2 day stay in this hotel.we have paying 42000 srilankan rupees . I think hotel management need only money. They never given good service for their customers

Our sincere apologies for any unfortunate incidents that you had to experience within your stay with us. You were our very first guest after the long closure that spanned over 2 months due to the pandemic situation in the country and we were operating with limited staff at the time of your visit as it was just after the hotel was back in operation after the closure of 2 months. At the moment we are fully in operation and we are certain that we will provide the warm Melheim hospitality within your entire stay with us! Situated high up in the hill country near Haputale, this is an interesting boutique hotel. Each room is an individual detached chalet of generous proportions. All the chalets have glorious views over the surrounding hills. The pool and grounds were beautiful and it is such a shame that in the two nights we were there, our itinerary was so busy that we did not have time to make the most of them.
The dining room and terrace look out over the glorious countryside. It was very windy on the two nights we stayed which meant that the shutters were down in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast.
Our first night was very quiet with only one other couple in the resort. The second night had quite a high occupancy which generated a pleasant ambience.
Service from the staff was excellent. The food was generous in its portions and after breakfast the hotel boxed the bread and biscuits we had been unable to finish so that we could eat them for a snack on our travels. As is common in Sri Lanka, the preparation and cooking of western dishes lagged behind the countries own cuisine.

I dont think we have ever had such an uncomfortable experience in a hotel. On arrival the front of house woman was unwelcoming, not even a smile. The room itself was large, with great views, all be it the bathroom was quite tired with mould on the ceiling and in the corners. In addition the safe didn’t work and the TV didn’t work. Despite this, we aren’t too fussy when it comes to rooms and so thought this was acceptable and were even happy with the room. For dinner we wanted a la carte as the buffet had minimal selection. We tried to order a la carte but were told that the chefs didn’t have time to make us dinner (this was at 7pm) and if we didn’t want the buffet we could only have sandwiches off the a la carte menu absolutely nothing else. We ended up having the buffet and despite being the first there all the food was cold including a pasta that had a congealed cold layer of cream sauce on it. We informed them and they advised that it was because in the mountains it was cold. The manager was very very rude and not listening to us as all, explaining that the food was cold because it was cold outside (seems strange as in England we seem to be capable of serving hot food). The next night, as there is no where else to eat and we felt so uncomfortable we ended up eating chicken sandwiches in our room as again no other options on the a la carte. They disturbed us 4 times (via phone and even turning up at the door to our room) that night while we were trying to eat our food to settle our overall bill including room rate despite not checking out till the next day. I would never stay there again unless the ownership and staff changed as it is such a shame with the beautiful location.

Built mainly of stone, the hotel blends in beautifully with the countryside. We had a lovely spacious room with comfortable chairs. The big balcony had beautiful views over the mountains below, clouds permitting. Although it was very hot and dry when we were there, the gardens were remarkable with poinsettias growing next to hydrangeas, white hibiscus and flowering trees.
The pool was quite small but the water was cool; the pool area has magnificent views. For the three nights we stayed at the Melheim, food in general was OK, with some hits and misses, but the soup for dinner was excellent. We had half board which included a four course dinner that had to be ordered in advance. The first course was very small, then soup, then a choice of main course and dessert. Service was very good: the staff were charming and helpful in booking a tuc tuc trip and our onward transport.
One small thing: the bar could have been a bit more inviting, although it was lovely sitting outside one evening when a fire was lit.

This hotel is in the most beautiful location with stunning views! You could capture beautiful sunsets from your room with bird song as value addition.
We had the one of the best experiences, very friendly staff, waiting to cater to our needs. Food was devine, we were pampered by all of them.
Rooms are big & clean, so was the bathroom. They had all animities needed. We were taken on a guided tour of the gardens to the view point & also to Liptons Seat & a beautfiful train ride from Haputale to Ohia. Over all it was such a lovely experience.

For these sorts of questions you should ALWAYS ask the hotel. Rates are for the hotel to set and not guests!
Drinks are extra. I can't remember how much though.

We went almost more than an year ago. With Sampath card offer of 40%, fullboard costed around 15000 LKR if I remember correctly. Nowadays, the rates may have changed.
Request the upstair rooms if possible, to have a better view.
There is no need to use an AC because of the amazing weather. They have fans.
