Stayed here after a groupon deal for £89 for two nights b&b with drink on arrival. New landlady had just taken over so there was a transition period that mainly went unnoticed. Room was no frills but clean, food was actually quite pretentious charging £6 for 2 spring rolls but still nice. New menu started day after we left so... More

My wife and I spent three nights in this delightful inn in Whitfield. We had an excellent meal on the Sunday evening. Our room was quite spacious, very quiet and was very clean. Breakfast was served in the restaurant area and was top class. We had great value for our money and would recommend this place to all!

We stayed in this hotel to celebrate our Granddaughter’s 21st. Birthday. We were allocated a Double Room with shower situated on the First Floor in the Main Building. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, with the bathroom fitted with a shower. As seasoned travellers we would not go quite as far as stating that the room was... More

Clean, comfortable bed, good food. A very quiet location for walking and Hadrains wall activities. As Groupon traveller we found that we had to ask several times consumables for the room. Staff very helpful and efficient. Wi-fi a bit flakey in the room.

Many thanks for your kind review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay. Whilst the Groupon offer proves very popular it is not very profitable for the business so we do try to keep the consumables and non consumables to a minimum. We don't tend to replace the shampoos and shower gels daily as they are usually sufficient for 3... More

My wife and I spent two nights at The Elk's Head. We were made very welcome by the staff who are lovely and friendly. The meals that we had were delicious and nicely presented. It is well situated for an exploration of the countrysides of Northumberland and Durham. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed the garden which is... More

We took an offer for 3 nights staying at this inn for something silly like £130 including dinner and drinks on the first night and breakfast every day. It's in a gorgeous location - real picture postcard. We were welcomed by a very friendly woman behind the bar who asked us about our trip and offered us drinks there and... More

My partner and I stayed at the Elks Head for one night in June whilst visiting nearby Hadrians Wall and other fantastic attractions. We couldn't fault our experience here at all. We were staying via a Groupon deal on a DB&B basis. Both our bedroom and ensuite bathroom were spacious, clean and well maintained, and had decent facilities. Both were... More

We enjoyed a two night visit here in April. We had a spacious room overlooking the river. It was spotlessly clean with ample toiletries and hospitality tray. The food was high quality and we were given large portions. Our dog was made very welcome. The surrounding area was good to explore. A relaxing break.Would like to return to appreciate it in... We bought a Groupon offer at £130 for three nights including welcome drink, breakfast, and dinner on the first night. This represents good value and my review is in that context. The Elks Head was ideally situated for our planned tour of Hadrian's Wall, the Kielder area and both coastlines, being right in the middle of the country. It is... More
