#2 of 4 B&Bs / Inns in Chatteris
The Cross Keys Hotel in Chatteris is a 16th Century Coaching Inn in a pleasant Fenland Town, set between the two cathedral cities of Ely and Peterborough. Surrounded by rich farmland, known as the Covent Garden of England. Chatteris is the Gateway to the Fens. The area is completely flat with lots of waterways to explore. It is believed Samuel Pepys stayed here in September 1663, as did Oliver Reed. The Cross Keys Hotel in Chatteris is also on the convergence point of three Ley Lines, one being through Stonehenge itself.

Walked into the bar felt very welcoming, room no11 excellent all amenities one could wish for biggest bed I have ever slept in clean and well maintained. Restaurant top class food excellent service very good attentive staff, excellent range of beers served in comfortable surroundings made to feel very welcome by staff and locals alike. I would love somewhere like this closer to home. Excellent breakfast well cooked, would have loved to stay longer, would definitely stay here again if I am in the area, recommend to anyone looking for good comfortable accommodation with no fear Fantastic value for money

Visited for Sunday lunch with friends. Food and service was superb and the staff bent over backwards to cope with my temporary dietary restriction. I cannot recommend too highly. Thank you for a lovely time.

We stayed in very comfortable rooms with an included big breakfast. The owners, David and Becky were so accommodating. We had the most marvelous suppers and desserts served in one of the many dining areas. Every room was uniquely decorated with vintage treasures and some with working fireplaces Room after room was an adventure in history, cozy and charming. Did I mention the bar? Yes, they have the sweetest bar with lots of sitting area and an attached room with a large fireplace and comfortable seating. We took our daily trips from there and were always welcomed back with a warm meal and a draft. The chef is a master in culinary skills and he never disappointed us with the wide variety choices.

Another wonderful lunch at this lovely inn. It's warm and welcoming even while keeping to the covid rules. The staff, as always, were helpful and friendly. Our food was obviously freshly cooked and was piping hot and delicious. Excellent value for money, Four of us ate with sweets and drinks for less than £50.00. I call that a bargain! As always, well worth the journey over.

If you're looking for a real authentic English Pub, then The Cross Keys in Chatteris is the place! You open the door and are transported to days gone by. In face the friendly landlord told us that some parts may date back as far as the Thirteeth Century. It's an amazingly charming place. The food choices are good, I particularly loved the Vegan menu and the fact that the lunches were only £5 each! Exceptional value. My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed everything about our visit and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. We'll be back!
