We stayed at the Bluebell Inn while walking the South Downs Way. Very friendly service and a great evening meal. Breakfast was fantastic - best so far. Very helpful staff located the ipad recharger we had left behind and forwarded it to us. Many thanks.

Found this place by chance when the bunk-house up the road turned-out to be un-contactable. Short detour off South Downs Way route (half mile?) Pleasant, characterful, quiet property with large, clean rooms. Food on-site. Fabulous breakfast of hot & cold options and lovingly presented. 'Tea for one' gave three big cupfuls. Good shower. Big TV. Shared bathroom with one other... More

Spent our wedding anniversary night at the very charming Bluebell village pub/B and B at Cocking. The greeting was very friendly and our room was very nice, warm and cosy. Sat in a good old traditional bar and had a good old pint of cask real ale. The food was excellent. My wife had fish and I had the venison.... More

I stayed at the Bluebell with my brothers as an overnight stop when we were walking the nearby South Downs Way in 2013 and it was excellent. I returned with my wife last Wednesday and was so pleased to find it is still a great place to stay. Our room was warm as was the welcome from Simon and his... More

Friendly and snug. They sell real ale out of the barrel. Superb food and comfy bed. Small room but clean and cosy. Really good breakfast with lashings of freshly brewed coffee. A perfect antidote to the faceless chain hotels.

Stayed here for just the one night. The owner Simon and his staff made me very welcome and my evening meal was lovely. Really well cooked steak, lovely dressed fresh salad and great chips! Fresh ingredients and locally sourced quality meat. Breakfast was equally as good with perfect poached eggs and well cooked Black Pudding (not greasy, nice and dry).... More

The pub is rather nondescript. I had skate wing which, although served with capers, the other ingredients were very strong flavoured so you couldn't taste the fish and the dish was rather dry. Our friends seemed to enjoy their meal of game and my husband said his meal of fish and chips was 'okay'! We did not stay but met... More

Saw this place advertised locally so thought would give it a try. First time we went we were the only ones there so atnpmosphere was a bit lacking. Second time ,both times lunch times, it was full so was different. Little bit rustic but food is excellent. Be patient as all orders are cooked from scratch but well worth the... More

We stayed here as a stopover for the South Downs Way. Excellent and helpful reception. Staff were extremely accommodating and tolerant. The bar was a good place to unwind with a game of chess and a pint of excellent local beer, from the barrel. Dinner was very high standard - way above usual pub grub. Excellent attention to detail ingredient... More
