Could be the nicest place on the Norwegian South coast. Tranquil, idyllic and full of history including the ship battle in the Napolean war. Go cruising around the coastal islands, walks, visit the history museum, and just breathe in the small community essence.
This is one of these places that should be on your “bucket” list. Visiting the place in rainy November did not spoil the scenery of this very cosy place The breakfast, lunch and dinner were absolutely fantastic. Rooms are specious and well kept. The thing that perhaps doing the place to be a sure winner is the fantastic team. Everyone has that magic touch making the stay very good
Arrived by boat, easy moorings in front of hotel. 8 of us not pre booked ! Staff very welcoming, arranged table outside in no time. Quick to serve drinks, good menu, highly recommend beef tartare , fish &chips with mushy peas excellent. Couldn’t Find better in U K! Reasonable prices too . Great venue !!
We seek out small, hidden gems for our hotels, and Bokhotellet numbers among the best. This is a beautifully designed and kept property, with rooms that feel like your apartment, not a hotel cubicle. The views of the harbor from the balcony are calming, and the service is first rate - attentive and sincerely friendly but not cloying. The personalized breakfast service is far superior to a feed-trough buffet. Nice walks along the waterfront. A world-class place to stay. Note: Like everything in Norway, costs are high. Maybe just a little more so here, but you get what you pay for.
My family and I visited here and the staff even stayed open later to prepare us a meal after we drove to get to our room for the night and would have had to drive again to get dinner somewhere. Boy am I glad they did this and they had excellent food and such friendly service. The view was beautiful when I walked out the next morning, wish I lived here!! I highly recommend and have your camera with you for awesome views and pictures.
