We were looking for a peaceful stay in the mountains where we would have access to hikes and eat good food. We got everything and beyond! La Coustille is nestled on a hillside of St Leger les Melezes which offers amazing views of the valley and the nearby mountain ranges. Our room (Soleil) was so cute, cozy and had a private entrance and patio. Annie and Marcus were amazing hosts- kind, cheerful, helpful, yet not intrusive. Annie's cooking is amazing whether at breakfast or dinner! She also gave us excellent recommendations on hikes to go on (Refuge du Tourond & Saut du Laire), roads to take, and restaurants to go to that were open given the low season. We also took advantage of the indoor spa which looks out to the mountains, where we could have soaked a lot longer! We had a wonderful time all around staying at La Coustille and would recommend it to anyone. Hope to come back one day!…
From the first glimpse of this beautiful little place, hidden down the back streets of a small Village on the Alps, you know you are somewhere special. The snow was falling, and we were running late for dinner due to the road conditions but the host was very understanding. Once we arrived, we were given some crocs/slippers to borrow and change into and then show around his house and to our rooms. We met the other guests there, were given a few minutes to drop of our things and change and then invites to join the hosts and their other guests for a drink while the final touches were made to our dinner. The dinner was delicious, and all home made using ingredients that are all locally sourced and organic. Their dining room is stunning with large windows overlooking the snowy valley. We enjoyed chatting with their hosts and the other guest throughout the dinner where we were also offered some delicious wine. After the meal, we sat with the owners and guests again in their lounge and chatted for hours whilst enjoying some local Génépi. Once it was time to go to bed, both bedrooms were very comfortable, warm, and well furnished and we all slept very well in the complete silence of the mountains. In the morning, the breakfast was amazing with fresh bread and croissants sourced from the local bakery and home made jams. We were very sad to leave this place after one night and will definitely be back as I didn't have a chance to try out the sauna or book any nice massages in their mini- spa. Until next time! James…
Very warm B and B where the hosts make you feel very much at ease and create a heartily atmosphere at the table d’hôtes. The extraordinary view on the surrounding mountains makes the picture complete. This stay would have been a perfect one, had the table d’hôtes and breakfast been slightly more generous/abundant and adapted to the (number of) guests present. And how small a detail it may seem, we will always remember La Coustille as the B&B where we were offered a glass of tap water upon arrival. A cup of coffee or a glass of whine would have left a better first impression. Warm regards to Marcus and Annie;
