We were tipped by friends that this was the place to go. Yes; it was. We booked a room in the old part of it( buildt late 1890's) and had a large room with a good bed and linen, 2 chairs, a nice bathrom and a view eastwards up the valley and into the garden. Breakfast the next morning -was more or less -completely homemade when considering much of the food; jams, hering, meat etc.etc. That suits me well!!! The hotel is family driven, and they try to do their best all the way. We liked it and definitely will stay there again if we are on the way in that direction ( dinner is described separately)

Room: broken blinds and shower. Hopeless night’s sleep. Restaurant menu limited - starter very good but main course had cheap cut of beef insufficient you cooked so difficult to cut let alone eat. Not to mention wine list prices.

Review collected in partnership with this hotel
Of the seven places I’ve stayed in during this trip to Norway, this was easily the most regrettable place I’ve stayed. The one redeeming factor was the bed was not uncomfortable. The negatives were threefold: room, bathroom, restaurant. The least negative was the room, which was badly designed. It had a bed, chairs, a desk and a tv, which was only visible when sitting at the desk, where it was sitting. This was in the new section of the hotel, which is why it seems so odd to me. The bathroom is where it gets really bad. There is only a half door for the shower, so the water went everywhere. At first I thought this might be a wheelchair accessible room, but even if it was, I’ve stayed in ones where the water doesn’t go everywhere. And with only one towel, I was left with the choice of drying myself off but slipping on the wet tile, or using the towel as a bath mat and having to air dry myself. I took the later. The absolute worse was the restaurant. As a general rule, I never eat dinner in hotels where I’m staying. But according to the desk and yelp, there weren’t any other options around, and with all the promotion of the restaurant on their website, I thought I’d give it a try. In a word it was horrid. It was simultaneously the worst and most expensive meal I’ve had in country. Breakfast was bad, but better by comparison. I’ve usually had good luck following the opinions on the Trip Advisor, but here we differ greatly. I would not stay here again.

Visited and slept a night at this hotel and I must say I am pleased, and I will come back. Our room was in the oldest part of the hotel and we had a really charming albeit small room. We had our dinner in the cozy restaurant and I must say the waiters and chef really brought their A game. Very very good service and food. We had the langust, trout, deer and everything tasted really good. Thank you for a pleasant stay at your hotel, as I wrote we will be back some day

We stayed at the Gloppen Hotel in Sandane on August 13th while on our way from the Hardangerfjord to Geirangerfjord. The Gloppen Hotel was our favorite lodging during our 9 day, 8 night trip. Professional, friendly staff who clearly made it their mission to delight and make their guests feel welcome. Clean and well-decorated rooms. Good breakfast and dining areas. Hotel has a nice history as well. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others travelling through the area up to Geiranger, Alesund, or Andalsnes. Lots of outdoor recreation available nearby as well!
