We had a few days at this charming hotel, it felt like a trip back in time. We loved the surprising details, and style from the 19th century. A real Norwegian breakfast served in a calm atmosphere, with small story's of the history of the hotel by the owners, gave such a good calm start. You could of course have... More

From the moment we sat foot in the doors of this hotel, we knew we were going to get a different experience. One of the hotel owners Mr Bent himself, shook hands with us and wished us warmly velcome. We were introduced to Celine who had made clear our room, and Jenny stylishly attired in 1800 century maid uniform. For... More

This is a gem that should get a lot of credit for inviting customers back in time, in furniture, decor, signposts and service. This was a very pleasant stay indeed and very unusual - definitely one of a kind. If you can't stay the night, be sure to visit the cafe which is more like a restaurant really. At least... More

Small and nostalgic, carefully refurbished old hotel. It's like travelling back in time, so be prepared for simple standard. Nevertheless, highly recommended, mainly because of the authentic style and the friendly owners. The hotel is their passion, and they are eager to make your stay a good memory. I recommend fried salmon or fish soup for dinner. Big portions and... More

This place is what I would call very cozy. We stayed for only one night, so sharing a bath with others was not a problem. For a longer stay, I would chose a room with private bath. The staff was friendly, the food was ok, and the vicinity to the road didn't bother me. The walls are very thin, so... More

Thank you for a great experience, beautiful place, the staff were really friendly and the food was amazing. If you are passing by or are thinking to spend some days in the region I would highly recommend it. The decoration is nice and the rooms are simple but enough. Our room didn't have a private bathroom but the bathroom was... More

This "hidden 5-star" hotel in Lyngdal, Southern Norway, is packed with antiques, old tools and travel bags being used 100 years ago. All displayed and available for a closer look and to be touched. With the photos from first half of the 1900, the place gives the visitors a feeling of entering into, and becoming a part of a historic... More

17 friends invaded all rooms for a week end in August. Our stay was thoroughly planned in advance together with the hotel management, and all our expectations were satisfied. We all enjoyed a friendly, humorous and personal treatment, as well as delicious food from local ingredients, with a Danish touch. The facilities of the rooms are quite modest, but what... More

This is a small late 1900 century very much original hotel. 10 rooms with only two en suite. The area is not good for much less than recreation , hiking and fishing, but the hotel itself is well worth the detour. The restaurant serves very good food and. You will not get many other places that takes you back in... More

Stepping into the Paulsens Hotell is a little like time-travel. The hotel is beautifully maintained and full of artifacts with an interesting history - the proprietor kindly told us a few stories which were very entertaining. They serve enormous, delicious meals, and the rooms were cozy, clean, and comfortable. 5/5
