Positives: The room was big enough, quiete place and good quality furniture. Breakfast was the best in the entire Europe. In all other place it was very very stingy as if we are begger. In all the breakfast in Europe is very boring except for this hotel. I have already recommended this hotel for our big group arriving in July...

I stayed five nights in this hostel in a 4 bed bedroom. I got lucky because there was no one else in the room, so I had it all for myself, including the bathroom, for a very very good price. The room is simple but has everything I needed: a bed, a place to put my suitcase & clothes, and...

We, a family of three stayed here for 2 nights in April 2015. Although a bit out of Volterra itself, the walk into town is not too long (about 15 minutes). The rooms are clean and comfortable with separate bathroom/toilet with hot showers. There is lots of space and it is lovely and peaceful. The breakfast is above average for...

We had the name of the place as Volterra Hostel with the address but the street has no numbers on it. We crossed this place several times but were not sure this was it as it didn't look like a hostel. Great place to stay for the price of 18£ per bed. Feels and looks like a 3 star hostel.

It was a really nice big room, but not a very comfy bed, Everything was really clean. The hotel is really far away from the town so after a day long of walking it just killed us to return to the hotel walking. Staff not very polite. The room where the breakfast is served is a different story. It is...

With a little help, this place could be a really nice three star hotel. The rooms are spacious and the water hot and the internet access great. But the plastic chairs and tables in that magnificent courtyard was a sin! The staff could be a little more upbeat as well and a few flowers or statues along the corridors would...

Very quiet, great night sleep, clean and with friendly personnel. Everybody was very nice, the breakfast room is very interesting. The location is great to get to any destination in Tuscany, and the nights in this hostel so quiet we slept like babies. We would recommend it to any family travelling with children.

It is described as a hostel, but it is like no hostel I have ever stayed in. The building itself and the view from the room is stunning. They have kept the original features of the monastery including the bell tower, courtyard and frescos in the breakfast room. We sat outside on the night and admired the view. The room...

This place is a little gem in San Gerolamo, 10 minutes walk from the Fortezza Medicea in Volterra. The helpfulness of staff, standards of rooms and overall peaceful atmosphere were fantastic. We would have stayed much longer, hadn't we already booked another place in Siena which I adore. A must place to stay which is also twinned with the Foresteria...

We stay for 1 night, Sept 23, 2012. We did not have a reservation but they found us 2 double rooms with private bathrooms. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. We walked into town for sightseeing. They gave us a recommendation for lunch at a local restaurant, with was amazing by the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Not so far from the attractive Etruscan walls of Volterra, The Chiostro delle Monache is an ancient Franciscan convent, that was built together with the Church of San Girolamo in 1445 a.C. by the municipality and then assigned to the Franciscan order. Restored as a Hostel, The Chiostro delle Monache offers now some agreeably furnished private rooms, all with private bathroom and shower, and facilities, that you can find in higher hotels. Our aim is to propose a new idea of Hostel, closer to a low cost Hotel, perfect for families, study trip, business trips, groups, friends... Situated at only one km from Porta a Selci and the Etruscan Museum, this Hostel is situated in a quiet position, far from the city chaos and traffic, with the possibility to park the car free of charge. From her you can reach the most important cultural cities as Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano and the seaside. Without structural barriers, this facility is well characterized by the internal marvelous cloister surrounded at the four sides by an open gallery, built respecting the drawing of Michelozzo (sculptor and architect in Donatello's laboratory), where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the ancient Franciscan Convent, just a good stop. We offer a small caffetteria, a tv corner and a reading room, but also a beautiful frescoed hall, where breakfast is generally served. By reservation it is also available for dinners, brunches, business meetings, ceremonies and parties. At the back of the Chiosco there is a wide free parking available for all our guests and free of charge. ... more   less
