About
Description
This storied luxury hotel on the seafront promenade in Viareggio is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Built in the early 1920s, restored to the height of its charm in 2004 after 19 months' More refurbishment work, today the Principe is without doubt one of the world's most exclusive and refined historical hotels. The 106 rooms, including 19 suites, on five floors decorated in different styles, represent an ideal cross-section of elegant hospitality over the ages, through to the contemporary design of the sun-drenched rooftop swimming pool. The "Piccolo Principe" and "Regina" restaurants have also made their own contribution to the renown built up over the years by the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio. The Two-starred Michel restaurant "Piccolo Principe" offers sophisticated cuisine against the magnificent backdrop of the panoramic roof garden, where guests dine in summer, while the "Regina" restaurant offers traditional Tuscan fare. Really enjoyed our stay at this excellent hotel which we used as our base for a brief tour of Tuscany. Viareggio is a lovely town situated on the west coast 30 miles north west of Pisa and our seaview room with balcony gave us fantastic views of the beach & the wonderful sunset.

Hi I’m looking to book for the end of October. Are there still plenty of shops bars and restaurants still open at this time of the year? Also what’s the weather like. Thank you
I haven't travelled in November, weather wise looks OK on line. I think you will find it is still essentially "open", and may be quite atmospheric at that time of year.

I believe your hotel is on the seafront? In that case, there are no hills to walk up or down? I’m fine walking on the flat, but not so good with hills or lots of steps. Thank you in advance for your reply.
The walk to the beach is flat, but across the street (four lanes of traffic?) with the help of a traffic light. Then a fairly long walk on sand/walkway past all the chairs and umbrellas to the water. It seemed like this is the case with practically all the hotel considered beachfront. There are several (12?) steps up to the front door of the hotel. The porter can help, but it was a pain every time we took our stroller with baby out.

Hi - we are due to arrive on 23 June for 9 nights and looking forward to it - is it correct that there is a premium price to pay for the use of the beach area - is there a package deal for 7 days for example ? Thank you 😊
Unfortunately yes! The hotel said 35 euros per day per person, not worth it though as you can use the private pool at the hotel and then the loungers are free by the beach :) you just won’t be able to use the pools next to the beach but a small sacrifice! The sea is warm :) hope this helps!

Can you book excursions at the hotel to see the nearby places of Siena, Florence and Pisa?
Do it yourself, so esy to navigate the train system. We went to Cinque Terra and into Lucca. So easy on the train and a lovely 15 to 20 minute stroll to the station.
