This storied luxury hotel on the seafront promenade in Viareggio is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Built in the early 1920s, restored to the height of its charm in 2004 after 19 months' refurbishment work, today the Principe is without doubt one of the world's most exclusive and refined historical hotels. The 106 rooms, including 19 suites, on five floors decorated in different styles, represent an ideal cross-section of elegant hospitality over the ages, through to the contemporary design of the sun-drenched rooftop swimming pool. The "Piccolo Principe" and "Regina" restaurants have also made their own contribution to the renown built up over the years by the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte in Viareggio. The Two-starred Michel restaurant "Piccolo Principe" offers sophisticated cuisine against the magnificent backdrop of the panoramic roof garden, where guests dine in summer, while the "Regina" restaurant offers traditional Tuscan fare.

I was given what I was told was an upgrade which compared to the room I had booked online through Voyage Prive was actually much smaller. The level of noise coming from the construction vehicles outside was unbearable which required that I ask for another room. The

Response from SalvatoreL1776, Direttore at Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte

Above all I am extremely sorry to read that in spite of all our best efforts, upgrading your stay from your original booking with us to a Sea View room and offering a voucher for a welcome drink at our bar, we were unable to reach your expectations. In regards to the incident with the other guests entering your room by mistake, I would like to assure you that we will be carrying out a full investigation to make sure that the lock mechanism of the door functions correctly as it may have not closed automatically upon your entering the room. Unfortunately, I see that our small gestures of sending a bottle of Champagne and fruit basket and also further upgrading your second night’s stay with us to a Sea Front room, which has a 60% higher value than the room you originally booked with us through Voyage Privé, promptly at 10 am the next morning, did not make up for the inconvenience and neither did our offer of full complementary mini bar. At this point I can only apologise and hope that should you come back to Versilia you will choose to stay with us again and allow us to show our sincere dedication to making all of our guests’ stays with us as serene and pleasant as possible. Kind regards

Thank you for afain an amazing family break at your hotel. The friendliness and professionality of the hotel staff is great. We checked out very early this morning and were asked if we wanted breakfast bags to take to the airport, so kind. The heated pool was nice and so was

It is a very good hotel, my room was really clean but very hot.The only thing that I would say is the restaurant was very slow. Slow in taking the order even when I made eye contact with the waiter and took also a lot of time to receive the food. The restaurant had only few

We had a very nice time. Rooftop pool was excellent but Sam didn’t try it (she went to have a look and said it was nice though ). Room was excellent and dinner was good too. We walked along the promenade and saw the jetty and fish. We would recommend the hotel to people.

I haven't travelled in November, weather wise looks OK on line. I think you will find it is still essentially "open", and may be quite atmospheric at that time of year.

The walk to the beach is flat, but across the street (four lanes of traffic?) with the help of a traffic light. Then a fairly long walk on sand/walkway past all the chairs and umbrellas to the water. It seemed like this is the case with practically all the hotel considered beachfront. There are several (12?) steps up to the front door of the hotel. The porter can help, but it was a pain every time we took our stroller with baby out.

Unfortunately yes! The hotel said 35 euros per day per person, not worth it though as you can use the private pool at the hotel and then the loungers are free by the beach :) you just won’t be able to use the pools next to the beach but a small sacrifice! The sea is warm :) hope this helps!
