We just spent a week in Torbole and for reasons of limited budget and last minute booking, we stayed at Villa al Vento. It is a small -- 14 rooms, I think -- modestly furnished, family run hotel (garni) -- that is about a ten minute walk from the lakefront. At the rear of the hotel is a hedge enclosed lawn area with ample shade trees, lounge chairs and a pingpong table. My favorite part of the stay was the breakfast. Available each morning from 7:30 to 10, it is served in a homey, pleasantly sunlit dining area with large windows. Served buffet style, the choices range from cereal and yogurt to cold cuts and cheeses, pastries and home-cooked cakes, and -- my choice -- do-it-yourself, softboiled eggs and toast. Juices and fresh coffee -- Italian and Americano -- are also served. Our room was very basic, no luxury, and the shower is one of the smallest I've seen, but the room was very clean and full maid service is offered daily. The owners and management are friendly and helpful. We had our dog with us and she was welcome in all areas of the hotel. Torbole is a lively and fun town during the summer season, the lakefront beaches are ample and charming and the vistas of the water and surrounding mountains are spectacular.…
