Detailed Reviews
Sud tyrol has always been a beautiful place to visit, especially if you love hiking, nature, chill air and amazing views.
This is even better when you find a place in a great location, and most of all when the people running the place have LIVED the mountains all their lives. And it shows. The passion, love, kindness they show make up for any little possible thing that might not be perfect.
This place is the exact opposite of the cold, perfect, modern business chains hotels.
In details:
- LOCATION. the location of the hotel is great. 1600 mt guarantees a chill refreshing air even in july or august. In addition it's the starting point for many trails, from simple to hard. I didn't used my car for 5 days straight, just leaving my room and being in the woods after 3 minutes
- OWNERS. Helga, Heidi and Hannes (the family running the hotel) were always happy to help us decide where to go every day, recommneding trails, itinerary and weather conditions (and i don't mean watching the forecasts only... but KNOWING how the weather is in the Mountains)
- GUIDED TOURS. They also offer free trips in some trail with them (we had an amazing one with Helga), perfect to understand and discover the beauty of the Dolomites and also the less known corners.
- DOGS. They had a special package for "dog holidays". I was with my partner and our 2 beautiful labradors. Everything was perfect: water bowl, blankets, towels for the dogs were already in the room. The "house" dining room is accessible with our dogs (they are well behaved) and this is a big plus for dog owners. Dogs were not only tolerated, but accepted and loved.
- FOOD. A special mention also to the food: every evening the dinner was rich, tasteful, varied and with local specialties. I gained 2 KG even walking 20 km a day !
- COVID-19 related, all personnell wear masks and all attentions have been made to the guests secutiry. This meant also reducing for exapmle the salad buffet (to avoid too many people), but it was compensated by the rest. I appreciated how serious and professional they were
- VIEW. A ski lane is just outside the bar, with an amazin view on Sexten Dolomites. When you wake up with such a view, the day is already perfect
- SPA. the hotel also has an internal spa (included). One for families (smaller and maybe a bit aged, but with a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna that are great after hiking). But the best is the second, only for adults. 97 degrees sauna, with relaxing reclined chairs with an amazing view of the mountains. We ended our day here EVERY DAY. Hiking, Spa, Dinner, repeat :)
A final special thanks to Frau Helga, that made our vacation great, with trail reccomendation, and the extra mile (one of my dog injured a leg and couldn't hike, and they personally helped watching her for few hours, allowing me to go to "le 3 cime del Lavaredo" the most iconic trail and the reason for my trip.
We'll definitively come back, already thinking to try it also in winter.

After three visits in that hotel I decided to write a review. The location is on the border of Alto Adige and Veneto, under the famous 3 peaks and next to the forest. The view and the fresh air are fantastic. The breakfast buffet is with good choices. The dinner is a 5 course sophisticated menu, with free salad bar and it is a matter of taste.
The hotel served as a base to trips in the Dolomites. The rooms are basic with a small TV, safe, small TV, no minibar or hot drink facilities.
If you want internet, I recommend the 10 Euro for 24 hour deal. It means that only when you connected to the internet it counts. You can use it during 3 months. Don't forget to logout after every session.
There is a problem with rooms with bathtub for older guests.
The most confusing is the room numbering. You can find rooms with 1, 2, or 3 digits side by side, and to get to some of them you need detective skills.
The pool nice and the decoration reminds me the paintings from Pompeii. There is a gym, Whirlpool, Sauna (no bathing suit) and beauty care. Just relax and enjoy

Stayed for 5 days as part of a coach party. They served decent food for their half board and the breakfast is one of the better buffets we had. Rooms were spacious and comfortable and the swimming pool and spa were an added treat after the exertions of the day.
We were there in the summer and I seriously am looking at making it back for the winter season.

Hm. I have mixed feelings about this hotel, so I will begin with its pros:
* The location and pistes are very good for quality skiing.
* The food was quite nice.
* The rooms are very clean.
* The spa area is very nice and the facial I had was very good quality.
*The chimney room is warm and welcoming.
* the views are stunning.
The cons:
* All courses of the five course meal were cold on the first night we arrived.
* the swimming pool is very cold indeed.
* there is no water provided in the room nor tea and coffee.
* the internet costs extra and there is no general computers available for guests to use, which given that the hotel attracts a lot of business people, i feel this is not acceptable. The wifi is only available in the reception area, not in the rooms. In this day and age i expect more.
* i could have overlooked these cons, but the narcissistic, frosty and unprofessional attitude of the owner REALLY annoyed me, particularly when we paid a lot of money to stay here. Not impressed at all and I would never return.
* lots of the other guests were also of this ilk- very concerned with image but underneath this, there is not much of substance.

+1
Myself and my wife have just returned from a 4 night stay and the Kreuzbergpass Hotel in South Tyrol and i have some mixed emotions about out stay. The hotel is without doubt fantastic for skiing as it has its own piste and it has the most stunning views, which it commands from every angle.
The hotel is a little dated, but the rooms are very large and very clean. However this does come at a price as we booked the most basic room, which didn't even come with any water, tea or coffee, english TV channels or any free internet in the rooms and we spent over 1,500 Euros for a short four night stay.
The restaurant has a very good breakfast and the evening meal was of a very high class, except on the first night, where all dishes were stone cold.
The spa area was outside the hotels main building and some people is brave it and leave there rooms in the dressing gown, and it was very, very nice but the only drawback was that the nice door swimming pool was ice cold.
The staff at the hotel were on the whole, very nice and the head bar tender Magnus was very kind and recommended some fantastic award winning wine to us. The skiing instructed Hannas was brilliant and was a first class instructor. However, the owner of the hotel, Helga Aichner was not the best of hosts and in fact when we asked to use the internet at the main desk -(2 euro's for 1 hour), she basically walked away when she saw some friends and left us waiting whilst she was chatting for 10 minutes.
The best part about our stay at this hotel was some of the very nice people we meet, and we are looking forward to travelling to German to meet Martina and Martina who were fantastic.
I wouldn't come back and stay at this hotel again as it was a little soulless and very expensive as what you really paid for was the location.

When you arrive at the Hotel you realize that its a little bit different : You are at 1630 meter a.s.l. , on the border between the italian regions of Veneto and Suedtirol , surrounded by forests and the impresive dolomite mountains. Just 3 buildings and the road (so forget about evenings walks in a pedestrian area : this takes a 20 min car ride, but then its not the hotel for you) In front of the hotel a double Skilift with 2 nice slopes, ideal for carving despite the limited lenght ( but believe me : you never have more that 10 people on Q) If you want more just tahe the free shuttle bus 20 meters from hotel and in 10 minutes you can take the gondolas to the family friendly sexten ski area. The hotel offers inhouse ski shool, snow hiking, sledge riding. Skis and boots can be rented at the hotel too.A must do is the horse sledge ride in the Fischleintal : superb ! The foos is excellent , maybe to much ;-) and also a chidren buffet is included. For childs they have a dedicated room and sitting. And if u have the chance to be here on christmas eve : well then its like in a fairy tale : Santaclaus on a sledge coming, a charming alpine style chappel.....All in all the perfect plave for a winter family holiday in a familiar surrounding. The rooms may not be top notch but clean and well serviced.

Not worth 4* imho and a bit pricey for a 3*. May be OK for climbers but lacks charm for passing tourists like us. Rooms in the main building may be nicer than the suite we had in the annex. That looked OK on the surface but showed its age here and there. Nice woody atmosphere but lots of wear-and-tear marks, stained carpet, clunky cupboard doors, tired mattress, cooking corner but no equipment to cook. The bar is nice but tiny, the adjacent lounge is loud and not too cozy, the dining room unimpressive though cuisine was OK. Above all the entrance hall was open all day front and back with cold air blowing through it all time ... not enticing after driving a day to get there.

Hotel is situated on a pass, in a nice, quiet setting with almost no other houses nearby. Hotel is in classic alpine style with that specific nice wood odor in it. Rooms are clean and very spacious. Bathroom also nice, spacious and clean. I would maybe add one little shelf inside the shower for a sponge or similar. We got clean towels every day, and were given bathrobes with no extra charge. Apples, chocolate and water are waiting in the room. Very important - they have very good beds! No backache after sleeping :) Breakfast is excellent, everything you can think of (from cereals and fruits to cheese and croissants). Dinner even better- a 4 course dinner in which you can choose which main meal you want. The 7 days we have been there we never had something that did not taste excellent. Good wine offer. I would recommend local wine Lagrein (apperently best from the region). Staff excellent!! Very friendly and helpful. Pool and jacuzzi and saunas are in the hotel’s additional house next to it. Also very nice and clean, but since it is a child friendly hotel I recommend switching to sauna area when kids come to the pool if you want to relax :) amazing view from the hotel to the mountains. A lot of trails start from there so you can go hiking or cycling. Hotel offers e-bike renting (40€ for the whole day). All in all we werevery satisfied and are plannning to come back for the winter too!

We were driving from Venice to Salzburg and came over the pass around lunch time. They have a largish parking lot. The food was good. The service was friendly. The Bar, where we ate was very cozy. It was very clean.

Cordiali saluti Heidi Aichner Hotel Passo Monte Croce
