Travelers' Choice
Alpine Style: The Tyrol Hotel is an experience in itself The idyllic scene impresses. A life amidst the impressive surroundings of the Gardena Dolomites, the green pastures, the dazzling mountain lakes and shady forests at the foot of the Sella and Sassolungo ... all this is reflected in the nature of its inhabitants. It is this uniqueness that we would like to share with our guests. After its opening in1996 the Tyrol Hotel set new standards for the valley - in comfort, in aesthetics and in elegance. The hotel was built in the traditional Gardena style in which wood, being a natural and traditional building material and design element, plays a main role. The custom-made 50 rooms in elegant, cozy Gardena style were inspired by the fluctuations within the wonderful nature that surrounds us. Untreated wood becomes a design product. Elaborate floor plans, warm colors, luxurious fabrics are combined with modern, contemporary furnishings. The large windows and balconies bring the splendor of the landscape into the bright rooms. All this for your precious holiday. We want you to feel extremely comfortable at the Tyrol Hotel. Elegance, warmth, finesse in all rooms: elaborately decorated solid wood at the entrance, in the halls and lounges, precious stones and mosaics in the spa area, elegantly designed outdoor patios and surrounding grounds. Lots of space for body and soul.

I have spent half my life in hotels on business. So I have become very critical about hotels. In the case of the Tyrol I can't find anything to critise. Warm relaxed welcome with an excellent prosecco. Staff very friendly to helpful. Food outstanding. Even if you didn't fancy something on the 5 course evening menue they would make you something else. The waiters rememberd what you liked as well, such as type of tea or coffee with your breakfast etc which was also excellent. Wines are very expensive, starting at around €30 a bottle. But the wines are excellent. The reception staff didn't offer any advice, like where to ski, buses etc. But this was not an issue. All you had to do was ask once you knew that's how they operated. The spa, pool etc was outstanding. My wife especially liked the powerful jacuzzi in a small cave. Although, I would suggest that young children should be restricted. Some were allowed by their parents to use the spa as a playground, leaving doors open to the saunas etc and making a lot of noise. A matter of inconsiderate parents. Rooms very clean, warm and comfortable for a skiing hotel. Might have been nice to have a kettle and cups on the room. But we asked and were given a kettle. The cleaners were always friendly. The ski boot room was excellent and the first lift (button) was only about 30 meters away and lead onto all the slopes in the area. The hotel is more or less ski in and ski out. We had not been skiing in Italy before and we loved it. We've been to many places and a lot to Austria. The Austria hotels are very good as well but they can be a bit snooty, stuffy etc. Whereas the Tyrol was relaxed. I have stayed in Austrian and Fench hotels that offer sometimes slighty bigger rooms with great views and at a slighty lower prices than the Tyrol, which is not cheap. But on the whole the Tyrol is better. We will be back (if we can afford it).

We have spend here almost a week with kids and friends and had amazing time. It’s a small (50 rooms) family run hotel. The service is impeccable! Really I haven’t experienced service like that in very very long time. People are kind, smiling and react immediately. When ever I ordered something from my room it arrived with in 5 min or shorter. Not sure how they make it, but they really care for their guests and their needs. We had half board, breakfast was amazing, not huge selection but all that was there was amazing quality and dinners were very nice too. It was always a 4 course menu with great and fresh ingredients and very well presented. The bar area is very cosy and pleasant ambiance to chill out any time of the day. Rooms are not very big but confortable. Will definitely be back.

Welcoming staff and beautiful decor. Built in 1966. Retains culture and cuisine of region to every detail. Lovely pool and spa plus sauna. Day spa. Great restaurant and bar where they remember your fave drinks! Only 5 minute walk to centre of village and fantastic clothes and ski shops. A perfect base for your Dolomiti Italian alps ski trip - chairlift next door :)

Oh.... I will miss this place.... we did not stay in this hotel during our winter holidays but we did enjoy the Spa, restaurant and we have also stayed for the aperitivo. I have no words to describe the excellency of the treatment of this magical staff. The food was superb, the spa extremely complete and then... the staff... warm, friendly, they really make you feel embraced and welcomed. This is something that the hotels are missing now a days, the warm personalised team of people working following a vocation. I would like to mention Antonio, the "capo sala" that read our mind with the wine and gave us great suggestions. I do not remember unfortunately the name of the sommelier who was great also and 2 other waiters that took care of our aperitivo. Bibiana, the owner of the Hotel is just a life reference in the short time that we spoke. I admire her extremely. She is not just passionate about his hotel, she is an essential part of it. I would love to return but this time, I would stay and enjoy also their rooms.
