We have just spent a week skiing in Selva di Val gardena with friends, a group of 8 of us in total. From the moment we arrived we were well looked after by the staff of the hotel. The hotel is slightly dated, but that is not a concern for any of us as we found it very comfortable and quaint, and of course our main aim was the skiing. The boot room was good, with heated boot racks, and plenty of ski racks. The food provided for breakfast and dinner was excellent, with good variety and lots of fresh ingredients, and the local wine was very enjoyable and reasonably priced. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, and made us all feel very welcome and at home, and the owner was always friendly and interesting to talk to. One downside was the location, which is not something that the owners can do anything about, and we got around very easy by bus and taxi. Also,we tend to take good wi-fi for granted these days, but the hotel wi-fi did not work above the ground floor, which was a shame, and prevented me from giving this a 5-star. It was nice to have a good breakfast on the day we left, and all-in-all we were very pleased with our stay at the hotel…
On recent ski holiday at Alpino the accommodation and food were very good, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the only downside is it’s at end of the village and although the bus stops outside the service is a bit limited and a 10 minute walk to town. I would have to add that out of our party of 6 five went down with stomach bug for a day and out of the hotel approx 70 % of guests suffered this and it seems that this occurred the week before. While not wanting to show the hotel in a bad light it is a concern that seems to need addressed and not as the Crystal rep saying a bug was going round town, in 40 years of ski-I got only seen this once before
We stayed here over New Year's 2019/20. First impressions: disappointed. It is really very dated. Nothing has changed since the hotel opened in the early 70's. However, as the week progressed, my opinions changed. The owning family and their staff are very competent and friendly. And the food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The hotel is almost built around the kitchen and dining room. The new year's eve dinner and most other meals were superb. I've stayed in Austrian hotels where the food was atrocious in comparison. Now: the virus. Norovirus to be exact. It was Christmas holidays in schools all over Europe. Norovirus, the winter virus, has been ravaging UK schools this year. The gestation period is a day or so. It is apparent that some guests arrived already infected and passed it on to others. Some people elsewhere in Val Gardena thought they had food poisoning! I caught it, my wife caught it. What else could we expect? We could have caught it at home also. Either way, was it the hotel's fault? Of course not We'll be back.…
Virus outbreak at hotel, known by all hotel staff and Crystal Ski for weeks before we arrived. Two days into our stay and the entire group was hit by the sickness virus. Lost a day skiing. Most other hotel residence also affected by this as there was very little people having breakfast or dinner the next day. The boot room was full of boots as everyone was ill. ROOM The sound proofing of the rooms is terrible. You can hear people talking through the walls. Foot steps above you and every door that's knocked or closed you can hear from your floor and above. The decor is very old, no kettle in the room, not many plug points. WiFi didn't reach floor two. Beds are comfortable and it's nice having a balcony although it's not private, it's shared with the other rooms on the floor. LOCATION Bus stops directly outside the hotel. 15 minute walk to all shops and main village. There are a few good points but the hotel management and Crystal Ski has tried to play down the virus outbreak. They didn't want to warn us in advanced because they wanted our money. The waiting staff and bar staff are really friendly but the management just cared about money.…
We stayed here over the 1919 / 1920 week. The hotel was exactly as expected from reading previous reviews , dated but clean and with pretty good cuisine. The wifi was pretty poor and kept dropping out. The worst part of our stay was that out of six people in our party we lost a total of 10 days skiing due to a virus ripping through ALL of the guests. The lady in charge of the hotel assured us that the virus was all over the resort. I checked with the rep and this was not the case.
