After spending a week in August 2022 with my wife and a couple of friends, we decided to come back in August 2024 for 2 weeks, since we were super satisfied from any point of view. It was a reconfirmation of what we experienced 2 years ago and to be honest even better Very clean hotel, modern and extremely comfortable., nice and spacious rooms, equipped with every comfort, easy parking, all extremely pleasant! Wonderful location a short distance between Selva and Ortisei, excellent for reaching the places of interest, and all the lifts at the foot of the Dolomites Rewarding breakfast, very varied and plentiful, with fresh produce and dinner on a set menu, with the possibility of changing according to your needs, all run by the Owner himself, a cook I must say exceptional and especially with great imagination. We enjoyed everything very much: kindness, courtesy and above all the availability and ability to meet our every request, in short, a great example of hospitality and professionalism of the owners. Honest price but the service and welcome and everything else are above average and make a difference. Congratulations again!!!! Riccardo Merlonghi

We stayed with friends for a long weekend of ski and relax. The place is wonderful if you are looking for tranquility. The food is awesome, both breakfast with plenty of choice and dinner with always new dishes. The hosts are very kind and accommodating. Very huge room with a brand new bathroom.

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Pension Grohmann. Mr.Ploner and his family were very warm and despite our language barrier they helped us plan our stay in Val Gardena so well. Daniela ,their daughter, patiently translated our English so her parents could communicate with us. The Pension is located a little on the outskirts of town and so has a really quiet surrounding. The bus stop is very close by but be prepared to haul up your luggage around the steep road leading to the Pension. The elderly might find it a bit difficult. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms were cleaned everyday and supplies regularly replenished. We loved the stunning view of the majestic Dolomites from our room. The balcony provides a perfect place to ogle at the conifer-decked mountain ranges. The food was excellent! The dining room had large glass windows that opened to the stunning mountains. We had breakfast and dinner at the Pension and Mrs. Ploner served up some fantastic cuisine. We stayed 5 days and always looked forward to our resplendent 3 course dinner especially. There was also an unending array of salads. We felt it was a really good deal for the money we paid. Mr.Ploner helped us plan our daily hiking trails and we got to see the best of the Dolomites. We could purchase our Val gardena passes from Mr. Ploner and it allowed us a very economical use of the buses and cable cars. We had gone on our honeymoon and we loved the peace and tranquility of the place. The bus stop nearby has frequent buses to Ortesei and Selva di val gardena. There is a supermarket (Despar) within walking distance from the Pension and we could find all that we needed. We hope to go back someday just to experience their hospitality again!

It was 3 years ago that my son and Daughter in Law stayed here for 5 days after their wedding. And they were gaga about this helpful family apart from the view from the window ! So ,we decided to stay here for 5 days and visit the stunning Val Gardena Mountains.
The pension, like all the other places is in a bit of a slight slope. Would not be a problem for those with lighter luggage. As we are senior citizens, when we expressed our concern, they asked us to call when we reached Soplajes bustop . Sure enough a car picked us up to take us to the Pension. Our Luggage too was carried up to the 1st floor. The room was very spacious with cupboards and tables and ledges to put our things . And a balcony with a wonderful view of the green fir and pine slopes. And the distant craggy Dolomites. Everything was spic and span .
We were given a bus pass so we could go anywhere in Val Gardena. On the 1st day we walked around Santa Christina. At the tourist office we bought a pass that gave us free access to many of the cable cars.We saw the tall beautiful craggy mountains from every angle. The Family Ploner was very helpful and their daughters were able to communicate and translate for us. Anna, the mother is a very warm friendly lady who could talk a bit of English and gave us Information about the place.
Breakfast and dinner was filling. The Lovely dining room with wooden panelling and wooden pictures had a panoramic view of the mountains and the sky. Misty mornings were so serene. Breakfast was a buffet arranged by Mr. Ploner who was in charge in the mornings. Dinner, was in the capable hands of Anna. Every evening at 7 we were treated to a delicious Dolomite dinner. Very filling. With a Salad Buffet.
Bus stop is a few minutes away on the main road.We explored all the mountains with the help of the cable cars..From Selva,... Ciampinoi and Dantercepies..Do take a walk and have lunch in the Jimmy mountain hut. From Ortesei,.. Alpe de suisse, Seceda, Neida Hutte. From St Christina... Monte panna. Do not miss the thrilling trip to Sassalungo on the Telephone Booth Lifts.
And all are easily accessible by bus from Pension Grohmann. We paid a visit to OTZI at Bolzano with our bus pass given by the Pension. You can take a walk on the other side of the House. We walked one evening and a tiny brown bird almost flopped at my feet and kept flitting close to us. There is a tidy laundry room where Mrs. Ploner did some washing for us.
On our last day, we had to go to Plan from where we had to take a connecting bus via Corvara and Brunek to Kasern. Anna felt that we might have a long wait and she very kindly dropped us at Plan. Thank you so much Family Ploner for the comfortable and relaxing time at your home.We would recommend this lovely pension for a relaxing and tranquil holiday. We used only public transport. But a car would definitely give you more ease of tranport.

My room was on the hillside side, and was quieter than those overlooking the main road into the Val Gardena. The wireless internet service was great, and was without added charges. My meals there were uniformly excellent in quality and quantity. They also offered a nice selection of Tirolean wines. A great breakfast bar every day. Fair prices for everything offered.

I spent a ski week here with my three young chidren. Very cosy family run small pension. Very quiet, relaxing and a really great cook. Tiramisu is best we've ever tasted. Genuine friendly service. Will hopefully be back again.

Great location, a few meters from the ski-bus stop (both direction Ortisei and Selva); spotless and new hotel, friendly and kind staff; hearty and varied breakfast and always new proposals for dinner. I absolutely recommend it, hoping to return soon

We were at the pension in July 2017. There may be a nearer airport. But as we flew into Venice, we took the train from Verona . We stayed 2 days to see 2 operas and took a train towards the Dolomites. Got down at Ponte Gardena. There are connecting buses to Santa Christina. Get down at Soplajes, the bus stop closest to the Pension Grohmann.
"Rooms are on the 1st and second floors. All the rooms are very nice. Don't think there is a lift so probably not adapt to elderly people who cannot climb stairs."
There are more places to choose from in the Santa Cristina Valgardena area.
