OK, my room was rather small, but for the price I paid at this hotel (usually when I want to book it is always over 200 Euros a night) it was the least of my worries. I must congratulate Ivan, the Maitre'D at breakfast, whom I watched in amazement when I realized that he didn't miss anything... if a guest was needing an extra spoon or a glass, he hurried to their table with one before they could even try to ask one of the waiters! Yes, during covid times, it is not business as usual, and everyone is trying to adjust, but I had not experienced such constant attention in a long time in any hotel! Also Paula at reception and all the other staff were extra pleasant and helpful. I would stay there just for the experience of being at a hotel that has perfected hospitality.
Lovely, traditional hotel. We booked a classic room facing the sea and got an upgrade to a superior room which is one of the more modern renovated rooms on the 4th floor. Fresh towels and water every day. The hotel staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly throughout the whole 5 night stay. Although the hotel was fully booked we always found a nice spot by the pool or on the beach. Hotel parking: for free or Euro 17.- per night: covered. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Royal Hotel Sanremo and would consider going back. Due to covid, the spa and gym were closed and some other restrictions were put in place: such as no dinner and live music served by the pool. A must: to book a room facing the sea, otherwise you look onto the parking area.
Really beautiful hotel, we had room 523 a junior suite facing the ocean which was beautiful. You could hear the lift a bit but if you close the door to the bedroom this was less and we wear ear plugs. Overall staff are very friendly, there is one older guy who works at lunch place by the pool and at The Restaurant in the evening (he takes the orders wears all black) who is a bit grumpy which does not aid in the overall pleasant experience. One major issue is smoking, if you don’t smoke and want to sit outside for dinner or breakfast you could be seated next to smokers which is disgusting. The hotel is very beautiful and the pool is great, very deep and great to swim in, not too much chlorine as they heat the sea water. Most of the staff like reception and cleaners, pool staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The breakfast buffet is served by staff at the moment due to corona and they take corona seriously with masks and spraying things down. Would recommend but the smoking and grumpy staff /waiters should improve. Also at the pool bar restaurant is not serving pizza /focaccia which means the menu is a bit limited .…
We stayed here for two nights at the end of August. I booked a classic room which was spacious and clean. I wish I had booked one of the sea view rooms as our view was of the car park which is a shame. We could hear the other clients in the other rooms a bit too much but I put this down to the hotel being old. The room clean is really good and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was small and the bathtub tiny (not enough room to stretch out my legs). The breakfast was really good, especially the fresh fruit and the pastries and the coffee was excellent. The pool service was good and the beds were comfortable and the towels are big and fluffy. I don’t know if the pool got a make over (if it didn’t it needs one) but tiles are missing in places and in others they were painted over badly and it looks a bit shoddy but overall we enjoyed it. We had a cocktail after dinner (we ate out both nights in the town) which was perfect !! We will be back in this hotel! …
The hotel is a proud old building but sparkling clean inside. Fabio on the terrace was so helpful finding me a cigar and Cristian and Paoula did their utmost to welcome me, the hotel runs like a well oiled old Rolls Royce. I am so happy with my stay and shall return.
