The rooms provide a stunning morning view of the Dolomites. Rooms are big enough for families with two kids. However, the only issue with the rooms is the electrical sockets. They are EU sockets but slightly smaller, which made it possible to charge my phone in all sockets, but only one socket could fit my laptop charger. Also, please be careful while using the electric stove. If you cook two things at once on maximum heat, it may overload the fuses. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Overall, it is a great value for the price. We have stayed here three times already and will definitely return again.

I just stayed at this residence for 5 nights with my family and our dog. We rented a studio at a great price, as we knew we'd spend most of the time outdoor (on Booking.com, but same price from the reception on the phone). The apartment was very clean, supplied with everything we needed, including bedding, toiletries, towels and robes, even a table cloth and tea cloth. The studio apartments have a double sofa bed and pull-out bunk beds; they are at the back of the building facing a wall and another residence. PRO: great location next to the center of San Martino; hiking trails within walking distance; shops, bars, restaurants, Info office nearby; indoor swimming pool, small wellness area (sauna, Turkish bath-hamam, relaxation area, herbal teas) and restaurant in the residence. Very clean building/apartment/swimmin pool and wellness areas. Very friendly ladies working at the reception: Luigina and Jarmila do an excellent job, they are very smiley, friendly and helpful, always kind and were ready to accommodate our requests or help us with info. Fast check-in and check-out. The young man working at the info desk, where they also organize excursions and activities, is also very nice and friendly (I think his name may be Paolo). CONS: no cons for this location for us. Everything was great. Maybe best to bring your own pillow, as the ones in the apartment were not so good.

This is a hotel that one senses once offered its guests a bit more. There is evidence that it used to offer restaurant meals, but this was not the case when we were there. The grand entrance area has lots of space to sit down, but few people doing that: because there was no bar to speak of. The building is very clean and well maintained, but the services stripped back to the extent that it's basically now a self catering place. With that in mind, the Sporting is really well located and offers something that very few properties in San Martino do: a pool. There is some free parking (it gets full quickly though, mainly with weekly residents who bag a spot then leave their car for the week). There is a garage somewhere (I think it's accessed from another street) but we didn't use it, and I believe it's about €10 a day. Breakfast buffet is €8/day (€4 for young children) and is the usual Italian affair of sweet treats, cereal, Nutella, toast, croissants, ham, cheese, bacon and eggs. And nice cappuccino. The breakfast steward is very friendly and accommodating. The pool area is small but clean. We didn't use the hammam area as our kids couldn't use it (over 15s only). The pool is nice and warm with about a dozen loungers around it. The pool is open briefly in the morning (10-12) then again in the afternoon (4ish - 9ish I think). There's a kids club. The play room is locked outside of the kids club hours (4.30-7, 8-9.30 from memory). There's a kids club leader who supervises kids left in the play room. The play room itself is well stocked, has a small indoor play frame and parents often stayed to play with their young kids. For older kids there's also a room (open all the time I think) with arcade machines, pinball and table tennis. The room we had (a bilocale, or self catering flat with separate bedroom) was compact but we'll laid out. It has a tiny kitchenette (2 plate hob, microwave, fridge, sink) and has most things you need to prepare meals. No oven, toaster or kettle , though. Most rooms seemed to have balconies. The view at the back is uninspiring, looking onto an apartment block in a state of semi disrepair. The best rooms are likely those at the front. The room has a TV with a small selection of terrestrial digital channels. It was clean, and functional but not luxurious. There's a small communal launderette and a couple of ski rooms, which we didn't use. I can recommend this place given its location and the price, but ultimately you do get what you pay for and for a hotel experience that goes beyond the functional you may wish to look elsewhere. For self catering families on a budget this could be just the place.

Currently staying in a Sporting Club inSan Martino di Castrozzo. Upon arival saw a 8,5 trip advisor rating on reception. Thought: o' that's good.. But then... First bad surprise: Charged 60 eur more on the reception although all costs were confirmed and payed for through booking on Mountvacation.com The web service acnoledged the overcharge by the hotel management and agreed to refund the money, though. Staff - not very cheerful with a poor english language skills (which they say is common for italy) General impression of the facility - not so cheerful. Looks like an old hotel which might be a bit cleaner. But then i saw the cleaning lady and it all became clear to me. We are staying in a studio apartment so it is expected that the room is small. The kitchen is small and equiped with cheap apliances. Bathroom is ok size but the shower plate is cracked and quickly fixed with silicon which does not look good. The parking spot in front of the hotel is barely cleaned from snow and parking is limited. When you take your stuff from the car to the entrance you have to climb oved the old snow boulders. The hotel offers a ski depot for ski equipment. Metal cabinets ate suitable for storing 2-3 sets of ski and 2 pairs of boots. But the area is extremely small and when more people get in at the same time it's virtually impossible to get in or out.

Beautiful place for skiing or for walking. Nice apartment with view on mountains. Good for family with small children. There is also small swiming pool in the hotel. Include also towels, bathrobes and basic equipment in the kitchen. We like it too much.

Positives: Very friendly staff, efficient check-in, well equipped room with small kitchenette and good storage. Spotlessly clean. Hotel also has spa, swimming pool and an excellent kids clubs with entertainment. 250m walk to the centre of town and the restaurants and cafes and ski bus. Separate room in hotel for skis and boots and lockers. All rooms were well heated. Fantastic views from the terrace. Negatives: Breakfast was a little expensive for 8 euros per person. Could do with a larger option from cold food (cornflakes, bread and ham) - perhaps to introduce some hot food. The beds are a little hard and the room walls are a little thin. It is no exaggeration to say we heard shoelaces hitting the floor - take ear plugs if noise disturbs you. However, we never heard any noise past 930pm and slept well.

Although a bit dated, the facility has obviously been well kept, and the spa area recently rebuilt. It is located in the center of the town, with a ski bus stop some 50m away. We had a junior suite, which was relatively small but space efficient. Everything worked fine, save for the main fuse which blew a couple of times, but Guido from the reception desk was at hand to help. Saying this, the reception and spa crews were generally extremely hospitable and spoke good English, which is not always the case in Italy. The room was fitted with an old-fashioned manual thermostat and we could regulate the temperature to our liking - thank God, no fancy 23rd century energy saving equipment that leaves you freezing most of the day. I am saying this because in certain other, much fancier establishments we all got ill because the keepers were of a view that from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. guests are supposed to be in bed and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. skiing, and that the heating was therefore superfluous. The ski room lockers are spacious enough, ventilated and well heated. A warm recommendation!

Staff was very polite and nice. Rooms and all premises were clean and tidy. As we were traveling with our daughter, we wanted to include her in playing room with other kids. She was afraid because she did not speak any Italian word but animator lady helped her and she was delighted. Swimming pool is enough to relax after a good day of skiing. The only thing that could be a little bit better was the sofa bed we were sleeping in and pillows, but besides that i could only recommend this place!

I have spent 4 nights is a two room apartment with my wife and child. The Sporting Club Residence is located just a few steps from everything you might need in San Martino di Castrozza (shops, restaurant, bus station, ...). The apartment was spacious and with all the comfort we needed (and as promised on their web page).

We have just spent one week in this residence. How pleasantly surprised we were upon arrival being used to French apartments! All kinds of towels, tablecloth and napkins, bathrobes, bath mat, dishcloth, duvets, everything was included. The apartment was not very big but big enough. The folded bunks could be closed from the main room with a massive wood sliding door. The room was clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was fully equipped. We've really enjoined the (small) pool and the sauna and steam bath. Herbal tea was provided in the wellness room which was also very clean, like the rest of the building. Staff was friendly and spoke English. The building is in the centre of town, a close walk to the skibus stop. Buses drive regularly, every 5 to 10 minutes. The ski area is very nice and well kept. Scuola di Ski Dolomiti was very good with English or German speaking Italian teachers. We did not use the restaurant. For a pizza we went to nearby restaurant Slalom. Service was very fast, pizzas tasteful and not expensive. Mostly however we used the kitchenette in the room for cooking. The supermarket in town is good and has many choices in fresh food. Overall we really liked our skiing trip in San Martino and we loved our room. We can really recommend it to other families with children.
