We have stayed at the Smeraldo many times during both winter and summer. It is attractive from outside in an unusual green colour which looks better in summer if I’m honest. It’s done in a very bright and modern way not the traditional character you might expect but minimal and very hotel chic. The reception staff are excellent and very attentive. The rooms are large suites with separate lounge and bedroom. There is a kitchenette including dishwasher. It could benefit from some additional items such as a kettle. There is a well stocked but chargeable mini bar. There are Tvs in both rooms. Modern clean bathrooms with clean towels every day. Housekeeping are excellent and take great care. Every day the toilet roll is folded neatly and sealed with a little sticker. Clean sheets every day. Comfortable balcony furniture. The breakfast is continental but decent quality and plentiful. Typically Italian I think. The pool in summer is very clean and attractive. You can hire bikes for free to take advantage of the boulevard. For the duration of your stay you get access to sun beds and parasols. Secure parking for your car. There is a Restaurant on site but is it quite expensive. The solarium on the 6th floor is a wonderful addition. There is a small gym and a spa but I have not used them. The area in summer is very attractive and has lots of restaurants and bars within walking distance. All in all I would certainly recommend Smeraldo.

The central atrium looks spectacular however it does tend to project noise which coupled with a lack of sound proofing led to less than peaceful nights.... noise in reception / corridors from guests late in evening and from the staff preparing breakfast area crockery etc from 05.30 Pillow choice limited in the room but may have had more on request. Mattress on the firm side. Plenty of wardrobe storage. Can’t fault cleanliness and location. Spa beautiful and treatments good Best hotel in location

Excellent hotel, extremely well kept and with a modern style. The only remarks I would like to make are: 1) the hotel is managed as if it were not on the beachfront, the suggested beach establishment is a little walk away and there is a fee to rent sunbeds. 2) the check-in at 4pm is a little late than usual, and check-out at 11 am is a little early than usual. 3) the breakfast room is a little crammed and staff scrambles around bringing food but has no time to say good morning.

What a fantastic hotel! We stayed here for 2 nights at the beginning of our Italy road trip, just checked out and having one last dip in the pool as I write this. This is one of the best hotels for the price that I have stayed in. It’s spotlessly clean, ultra modern and very well situated. The pool is lovely and never an issue getting sun loungers and the roof top sun bathing area is breathtaking. The rooms are very spacious- like little apartments the only thing missing from the kitchenette is a kettle as it takes a while to boil water in the coffee maker on the hob that is provided. You can hire bikes for free to take you into the city centre which takes around 15 minutes by bike right along the seafront. The only downside was that the temperature of the room was difficult to control as there are only 4 degrees that you can alter the heating/aircon too, and an extra blanket would have been welcome as there was a storm when we arrived and we were very cold on the first night. We are moving on to Florence today but honestly I wish we weren’t as I’d happily stay here all week it’s beautiful

This seaside town on the Adriatic Coast is fairly uninspiring. In typical style the private beach areas are set up in a regimented fashion with rows and rows and rows of beach umbrellas and deck chairs all evenly spaced and you’ll be just a couple of feet from your ‘neighbours’. The sand in these areas is clean and well groomed unlike the sand in the general public areas which contains litter and fag ends. The colour of the sea is mud brown. The long promenade is pleasant enough and some of the beachside cafes are quite acceptable. The Smeraldo apartments are truly excellent. We had a 5th floor apt which was spotless and ultra modern. The apt had a full sea view balcony, well away from the road. We couldn’t fault it or the service at front desk. Would we go back? The answer is no. Not due to the the Smeraldo suites which must be close to 4.5 stars but because the town was very so so.
