at least 3 members of the family run the b&b, are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast, they served, was one of the best we ever got in Italy: everything was really fresh, some was home made: one type of bread (there were several), marmelade of fig and of apricot. Few readily mixed cereal, but enough pure stuff, even manifold... More

I chose Saluzzo as a staging base for a four-day trek in the nearby Alpes. I chose Domus Aurea because of its central location and I prefer family owned accommodations. I could not have made a better choice. I suffered a serious knee injury enroute to Italy, putting my whole trip in jeopardy. To salvage my alpine tour I needed... More

Saluzzo is the most wonderful hidden gem! Yes the streets are narrow & it can be hard to find but if you contact Patrizia before arriving you will have no problems. If you want to park off street - make it clear - although we parked out front for 3 days & had no trouble. The rooms are beautifully decorated... More

Domus Aurea – located in the historical centre of the city - is a great place to stay for visiting the beautiful city of Saluzzo and to make trips to the mountains nearby (e.g. Vale Varaita). In the B&B itself you can feel everywhere the personal touch given by the owning family. Patrizia, the owner of the B&B, helped wherever... More

Monday, 22 july 2013 While my parents celebrate their 52 th marriage anniversary, we're sitting on the balcony of our nice room in B&B Domus Aurea in Saluzzo. What can one add to what previous visitors have told about Domus Aurea : the generous hospitality and care, the nice rooms, the nice surroundings, the very good breakfast, the very sympathetic... We highly recommend Domus Aurea - it should be on your Piemont trip! Hats off for that great effort to reconstruct that lovely building in that way and to furnish the rooms so classy and comfortable! We enjoyed the wonderful breakfast and talking to the hosts - thanks for everything! Unfortunately the room was only free for one night, but... More

Domus Aurea is a genuine experience of the Italian way of life. When I walked up Via Gualtieri to find the bed & breakfast, I felt like walking on one of these Italian alleys everyone knows from reading Romeo and Juliet. Domus Aurea is located at the heart of Saluzzo amidst exactly those mediaval surroundings Italian Renaissance is famous for.... More

They are very sweet people who run this place, however there are things you should know about Domus Aurea. For a start, it's difficult to get to. It's right in the heart of Saluzzo, and it took me quite some time with my SatNav to find the place. Then there's only parking on the narrow lane out front, no garage... More

Saluzzo is a lively city, beautifully situated, close to the Alps (1/2 hour) in the Po valley, 1 hour’s driving to the Mediterranean Sea and the same to Turin. We stayed 4 nights in the B&B (Bordeaux room, see pictures) and were very happy. It is especially nice to be very close to the centre of the city, but still... More
