After sightseeing for a week in Rome, Naples, Capri and Pompeii my friend and I decided to travelled East to Rodi Garganico to relax. We booked to stay at the Albergo 2 Pini resort for 7 nights and were made to feel very welcome the second we arrived at this Family run business. We were first greeted by the grandmother of the family; Rita who despite having very limited English was eager to talk to us, learning the English as she went along by pointing and using hand gestures. We were then introduced to Rita’s daughter Lucia who speaks fluent English and was more than happy to show us around the resort. Nothing was too much trouble for Lucia who was always happy to help. We had booked a twin bedded room and upon arrival asked if it would be possible to swap to one of the self catering apartments. she was very accommodating and moved us straight away at no extra costs. The resort itself is beautiful and very well maintained and the fresh water pool which is cleaned every day has stunning views overlooking the sea. As we were self catering we only used the restaurant once during our stay but the food was top quality and the service excellent. The beach is about a 10 minute walk from the resort or a 2 minute drive. The hotel has its own section of the beach with beach bar and parking just for the residents of the Resort. Upon our arrival at the beach we were given a friendly welcome by Lucia’s father Antonio who manages this section of the beach. There are plenty of picturesque villages and scenic sights nearby to visit; the two main attractions are the Isole Tremiti and the Grotte both of which are well worth seeing. Lucia was more than happy to arrange tickets for these trips for us and also gave us directions to other areas of interest. This resort is in a fantastic location and is run by a friendly and enthusiastic family all of whom contributed to making our holiday in Italy special, we will be coming again.

My family and I (we are Irish) went looking for a place to stay in Italy which was not uncomfortably packed by tourists. We happen to stumble upon this place and what a find it was! 2 Pini was probably the best holiday I have ever been on. It had the right balance between everything. I am 22 years old and I hate lying by the pool - it's so boring. The hotel had a daily routine that I was thrilled to take part in. My brothers and I enjoyed playing volleyball on the beach, tennis, football, taking part in ping-pong tournaments and then I particularly loved the evening entertainment factor. A wonderfully friendly team were on hand from the moment we arrived to make us feel as welcome as possible. The daily dance classes and fun group dances was suitable for everyone - nobody felt self-conscious here. And then there was the water aerobics which was incredible fun without being a huge deal about how fit you were. There was something for everyone. We were very fortunate to meet a great group of people here too and I can honestly say that they will be friends for life. A couple of pointers that some people may take issue with (but I in fact did not mind) was that this hotel is visited mostly by Italians (we were treated almost like celebrities because we were the only English speaking people there, but everybody made their best effort to talk to us), there are unusual pool hours whereby during the day it closes for a couple of hours when the sun gets really hot and everyone goes to relax and have a siesta. Another thing is that the food is not 5* gourmet. But it still is delicious, you really feel like you are sampling typical home-made cuisine. And for a vegetarian like myself, they bent over backwards to help me in choosing my meals. I miss this place so very much and my family are determined to return again next summer.
