In a residential area, in the heart of Positano, there is located the ancient building which guests the hotel Villa Gabrisa, an elegant and refined hotel owned by the Rispoli family. The careful choice of each detail, just like Murano chandeliers or Capodimonte ceramics, makes every room special and the hotel's privileged position, just few minute walk from the beaches, wraps it in a fairytale atmosphere that every guest can feel it from each room balcony or terrace, which overlooks the sea.

Warning - don’t book a standard room. They are tiny, don’t have a lot of electrical outlets and you will be relegated to the “attic.” Weird vibe from the staff. Carolina, the woman at the front desk who checked us in was aloof. Not only did she not tell us breakfast was included in the rate she acted like we bothered her for checking in. Barely cracked a smile the entire time we interacted with her during check in. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a clean hotel with amazing views but any room that’s not a “suite” is undesirable. Granted when in Positano you won’t be spending all of your time in your room but when you do return to shower and sleep it’s very, very tight. To elaborate on how small the standard rooms are, my husband rolled out of bed, took one step and was in the bathroom standing at the sink. On topic of the bathroom it’s narrow and tiny as well. Not enough counter space for toiletries for 1 person. Just enough space to turn around. Outdated appliances, one outlet in the bathroom that was being used by an outdated hair dryer that only had an on and off switch. One outlet by one of the night tables...the other outlets are across the room. There’s a ceiling air conditioner located on the right side of the room. As the room is so small the person sleeping on the right side of the bed will get a direct blast from the unit. Be prepared you will be living out of your suitcase because there’s zero closet space. There’s a jalopy of a roll out unit that has a safe. But be careful and don’t stand up too quickly because the ceiling is slanted. You will definitely hit our head - as my husband did. Let’s talk about their WiFi. It’s awful. It’s very weak IF you can get connected to it at all. I would say it’s spotty but that’s an understatement. The staff are rude. When we went to breakfast my husband used the wrong glass for water and the waitress made a point to “correct” him. WTF? It’s a glass for water. This is labeled as a 4 star hotel which it is not. Maybe if you book a suite but it’s barely a 2 star hotel if you stay in a standard room. Beware!

We stayed here for 3 nights. Originally booked with Agoda but extended my stay by contacting the hotel directly. The views from the room balcony is outstanding! The bed was turned down every night. Breakfast was good. Internet dropped out off most of the time. Great service, take the porter service to get your luggage up. We didn’t know the road route was faster, we went up the multiple stairs. Welcome to Positano.

We booked the honeymoon suite and every morning woke up in awe of the breathtaking view. Then we had the pleasure of walking down to the restaurant outdoors to enjoy delicious breakfast overlooking the coast. The staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. We were able to walk everywhere with ease and drive up to the hotel with ease. This is a gem in Positano.

Stayed here this past week, and the staff and hotel were excellent. Claudia at the front desk did everything you can ask for, and it is a beautiful family run hotel. The only issue is if you get one of the 3 attic rooms, they are very small and the roof of the lower levels block your views. Claudia did everything to make our stay in Positano enjoyable, and this is a superior city on the Amalfi coast!

Wonderful views from our Junior Suite balcony. Well appointed and comfortable room. Excellent service - both for the hotel and top notch restaurant. Food was amazing - also providing a family touch. Would stay here again.
