My wife and I stayed for 4 days in June at the Il San Pietro and felt it was outstanding. The hotel is perfect in every way. A great location a little away from Positano and its crowds; also well placed for exploring the Amalfi coast. Beautiful spacious room and balcony with fabulous views of the coast and sea. Both restaurants had great food including the breakfast. Drinks on the outdoor terrace each evening were magical watching the sunset before dinner. Service (in all areas) combined efficiency, warmth and a willingness to do what was requested. The hotel is expensive, but well worth it for what you get. Overall it was a wonderful stay and Il San Pietro combined with the magic of the Amalfi coast made for an unforgettable experience.
Great views of Positano. Sit on the terrace for a drink away from the tourists and crowds of Positano. Don't miss the fantastic restaurant - Zass. It's a 1 Michelin star, but it's not fussy like many other restaurants of that caliber. The food and service are great but really love their small production wine selection!
I have written a prior review for the hotel -- "a special place" -- and reiterate that this is indeed one of the most special hotels I have ever stayed at. From the location to the incredible views to the tennis court by the sea...and most of all, the incredible staff who has stayed through the pandemic. My review this time concerns the fact that I had a medical emergency during my stay, and the hotel went above and beyond to help me. In fact, one of their longest-tenured staff members actually drove me to the emergency room to help make sure I was admitted because few people spoke English at the hospital. There are certain moments when you realize that there is genuine goodness in people and that the measure of a hotel is more than its list of amenities. Il San Pietro is indeed a special place. Thank you to Andrea and the entire team at ISP. Until next year.…
This is a review of the restaurant (Zass), which included pre-dinner drinks on the hotel’s beautiful terrace. We actually stayed at Le Sirenuse during our trip to Positano but dined here on the last evening. I don’t use superlatives lightly but this hotel has the BEST view (and general ambience) I’ve experienced anywhere. It was breathtaking. We were given the warmest greeting from Roberto upon arriving at Il San Pietro in our taxi, who then proceeded to take our photos before showing us to the terrace. The dining experience actually wasn’t quite as special as the drinks (the view isn’t as utterly mindblowing once you move into the restaurant and the service felt rushed) but I couldn’t possibly give less than 5 stars.
Having been to Il San Pietro 10+ times we looked forward to this summer’s trip more than ever. The reason was simple - we finally brought our kids (ages 19 and 21) to our home away from home. The kids heard us rave about this magical place for years, and now we got to experience Il San Pietro through their eyes. Not only it was a pleasure to see Andrea, Juliano, Carlo, Luca and others again, but it was incredible to see our kids recognize how special Il San Pietro is. My previous reviews make it clear that we are big fans and keep returning year, after year, after year. But even for a repeat guests like us something I saw at dinner at Zass was one of those “only at Il San Pietro” moments. An elderly couple was seated next to us at dinner. A member of the waiting staff spotted the wife having trouble reading the menu. He brought a box I could not see and a woman picked something from it. I asked the waiter what it was. He brought the box to show me - it was a box full of reading glasses in every prescription you can imagine! Only at Il San Pietro somebody can think of such simple but so incredibly useful service. And this, in itself, is the essence of this hotel - anticipating what guests need well before they know they need it! As always, we can’t wait to return next summer.…
We were welcomed with smiles and a cocktail on the terrace looking over the spectacular views. This hotel is without doubt the very best we have stayed in. The property is beautiful and authentic in every way, the setting is picture perfect and the staff are attentive and friendly. Andrea the general manager finds time to make every individual guest feel welcome every day as if it’s the most natural way to be. The complimentary daily boat trips up and down the coast with the opportunity to swim in the sea should not be missed and the daily pre dinner drinks on the terrace are special. We ate in both restaurants Zazz is simply magical and feels very special and the food is wonderful Carlino’s.is right by the sea and is more relaxed for a great lunch or dinner and the food is delicious We will definitely be returning. The question is if any other hotel can match the perfection that is IL San Pietro.…
After a 1hour taxi ride from Naples airport, we arrived at Il San Pietro di Positano. (For your info the taxi ride is about 150-170€). As soon as you arrive you are blown away with the views. As you walk down the stairs to take the elevator, you can see the entire town of Positano. Room: -We stayed in room 35 and it was wonderful. Our own private little outdoor terrace had a view on the Mediterranean sea. -The room itself was comfortable and had a walk in wardrobe with enough space for our 3day stay -It was equipped with a Nespresso machine but no kettle. I am sure the hotel will provide you one, if requested -The soft drinks in the mini bar were all complimentary. You definitely need to try the pear and peach juices.. -The housekeeping team was wonderful and very friendly. Restaurant: -The first evening we had dinner at Zass, the main hotel restaurant. It was absolutely delicious, they served us a slice of pizza upon arrival and gave a great wine suggestion. -No smoking allowed on the terrace of restaurant and that is a great policy to keep. -The breakfast is mouthwatering, with fresh mozzarella and Parma ham, what more can I ask for? -We also had dinner at the beach restaurant and despite the storm earlier that day, we had an incredible dinner. You need to try the lemon spaghetti, it is to die for! Atmosphere: -All waiters are respecting the covid rules and wearing masks. -The staff is properly dressed and always willing to help -the complimentary boat tour is such a kind gesture of the hotel, it is very appreciated -We asked the concierge to organize a vespa for us to drive in to Positano, and it was a great service provided by them. It was very simple and not expensive, instead of taking a taxi and staying stuck in the traffic. -We really appreciated the general manager offering us a lemon based drink right before our departure! We look forward to coming back to Il San Pietro hotel next year, and will definitely stay longer! Don’t forget to try their amazing Bellini’s…
We returned to the San Pietro after 25 years, after a magical honeymoon there, the location is perfect and the beach club and restaurant Carlinos were excellent. The room was beautiful and the view heavenly. The service lets the hotel down, slightly stand off ish at reception and in Zass…didn’t feel as warm and welcoming as the other hotels we stayed in after this and for the price we expected the best. The terrace became very busy before dinner and couples were squeezed in…felt like a waiting room with a view. It’s a wonderful hotel just not sure it’s keeping up with its peers.
I only wish your rating system had more stars because this was definitely a perfect 10. This was out 2nd visit, the first time to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and this time for our 50th. It was even more fantastic than we remembered. The people and service are extraordinary, and you add a beautiful suite, amazing views, a gorgeous breakfast buffet and the dinner @Zass, their restaurant . Add a beautiful pool and the even a boat ride down to Amalfi …I could keep going but let’s leave it at amazing place. Our thanks to Lorenzo who helped us w/our reservation, and chose a beautiful room #58, the staff @ the front desk, our terrific concierge Giuseppe, the restaurant assistant Maitre d…Giuliano, Pasqual and his pool staff, and so many others who made our anniversary trip so very special. We won’t wait so long for our next return to this place!…
My wife and I absolutely loved this hotel and can't wait to return sometime in the next year. Our wonderful experience started with them months before we arrived as I worked with the staff on the details of our trip and stay with then, The staff is absolutely fantastic, and everyone works together to make your staff feel very personal and unique to you. It was so relaxing to be with all of them, and that's before you even get to the views and property, which are first class and simply amazing. My wife and I highly recommend this hotel. It's amazing from a property standpoint, and even more so from the quality of the staff and how special the whole experience is during your entire stay.
