We booked a city view room with partial sea view and it was outstanding. The view over Positano especially at night was hard to beat. The hotel is perched high above the town and was situated perfectly for shops and restaurants and was out of the way if the busy crowds this time of year. The room itself had a large balcony with table and chairs to enjoy a bottle of wine and delicacies purchased at the nearby deli. There was ample storage and a good sized bathroom Food at the roof top bar and restaurant was fresh and tasty and the staff made excellent cocktails on demand. Breakfast was very good. The staff at this property are some of the best I have ever come across especially those at the rooftop. The front desk were only too eager to help from organising transport, booking hotels recommending places to see or hiring a Vespa. They were truly fantastic. The wait staff knew our names and preferred drinks or coffees and were just so very kind to us. It became a home away from home in every sense. Will definitely return to our friends at villa Franca

This place is top-notch. The concierge was more than accommodating. The breakfast was excellent. The rooms were clean. They made us feel so welcome and special. I simply can't say enough good things about the staff and this hotel. A customer's experience is so important these days--it separates the great from the fabulous. And HVF has it figured out. Here's just one example: upon check out they give you a bottle of the scent they use in the hotel lobby to use as a room spray and remind you of the experience. How cool is that? I definitely recommend this hotel, and I WILL stay there again!

We visited Hotel Villa Franca as part of our Italian Honeymoon and were very disappointed with the hotel. When you are spending more than $1,400 a night for a hotel you would expect the service to be unmatched. We really wanted to love it, especially considering the price and the fact that we were there for five nights, but we were consistently disappointed in the hotel. It all started when we arrived and had lunch by the pool. The service was just average and the fact that a bottle of water was 8 euros felt like they were purposefully trying to take advantage. All other restaurants and even hotels in the area charge around 3-4 euros for a bottle of water. When we went to the room, we were surprised by how small the room, bathroom, and balcony were. The hotel is very small and actually felt a little claustrophobic. The hotel sits at the top of the city center, meaning that to go down to the main part of the city where the shops and restaurants are, you had to either walk down about 40 flights of stairs or wait for the shuttle bus to take you down which operates at kind of odd hours and only operates once every 30 minutes. The same goes for the way back up. For a hotel of this caliber, they should have 24/7, on-demand shuttle bus service to the center of town so their guests don't have to return dripping sweat from a hike up 40 flights. They also do not offer a couples massage. Seeing as many guests were on their honeymoon you would think it would be something they would offer. I also went for a massage and was told arrived 30 minutes before my scheduled service, only to sit there for 15 minutes before going out and finding someone to help me. They told me that the people who work there were both in services and would come to get me when it was time for my service. In the hotel's defense, we did complain to them a few days in about the service and they were very apologetic and even sent us a bottle of wine to our room, but the level of service did not improve even after we said something. It's really unfortunate that this hotel put a damper on our time on the Amalfi Coast. It is a beautiful area and the views from the hotel are astonishing, but once you get past that, it is not worth the price. If it were a truly 5-star experience, the price could be justified, but the level of service is just not up to par.

Loved loved this hotel. Great service, amazing views (from our room, breakfast, rooftop), delicious breakfast. Very modern. We've stayed at many luxury hotels, but this is definitely one of our favorites. Can't wait to be back!
